As allegations of unwanted sexual advances in 1986 by Kevin Spacey against then-14-year-old Anthony Rapp have emerged, Netflix today decided to pull the plug on the Spacey-starring House of Cards after the upcoming sixth season next year.
Coming just more than 12 hours after Star Trek Discovery star Rapp first made public his allegations of what happened at a party at Spacey’s New York City apartment back in the mid-1980s, the streaming service made the official decision today, sources tell us. While Netflix and producers Media Rights Capital were leaning towards ending the show a while ago, key cast and creatives were only alerted this morning in a series of calls.
“Media Rights Capital and Netflix are deeply troubled by last night’s news concerning Kevin Spacey,” the companies said in a joint statement today. “In response to last night’s revelations, executives from both of our companies arrived in Baltimore this afternoon to meet with our cast and crew to ensure that they continue to feel safe and supported. As previously scheduled, Kevin Spacey is not working on set at this time.”
We have also heard that Netflix’s Spacey-starring film Gore about the acerbic author Gore Vidal may be on the chopping block now too. The Reed Hastings-run streaming service has stayed officially silent on the sexual advance claims. No word yet if the NYPD is looking into the Rapp claims that allegedly occurred in its jurisdiction.
Late Sunday, Rapp claimed that then-26-year-old Spacey drunkenly put the teen on a bed to “seduce” him. “I was aware that he was trying to get with me sexually,” Rapp said last night of the 1986 incident when Spacey and he were both on Broadway...

Last season was a major disappointment
The show was past sell by anyway. I haven’t even seen the last season, just lost interest.
Special Report with Bret Baier tonight reported the apology by Spacey but failed to mentioned the fact that the victim was only 14 years old.
Is Shep Smith writing the news for Baier?
I prefer The Blacklist. Last week started marathon watching and I am so addicted. I think it portrays our government and other world powers who control it all.
He and Robin Wright portray a power hungry Democrat political couple who resemble Bill and Hillary Clinton to a tee and in the show he has extramarital sex with men and women.... And they are outraged to hear that he has sex with men and women?
The show ‘House of Cards’ is loosely based on a British series by the same name, but Bill and Hillary were obviously the impetus for the American version. The only difference between the Underwood’s and their underhanded meddling, corruption and murderous ways is that they don’t even come close to the real thing... The Clinton’s and their underhanded meddling, corruption and murderous ways.
Three DEVIANTS!!!!!
I’ve never seen it, but Netflix’s response is BS. They haven’t stopped shooting, haven’t cancelled season 6, and will air it next year. SSDD.
Have a feeling that Spacey will not be on the Emmy ballot for the final season.
Kevin Spacey, pedophile.
Watched only the first two seasons. too. Frank Underwood is a seriously bent character; I wonder how much of that comes from Spacey himself.
I liked your post.
The show has its ups and downs. There are long periods where not much is going on, but they people who put it together knew how to ramp up the suspense over the course of a season. The gay theme really comes out in season 5, though.
PS I saw the name "Boris McGiver" in the acting credits and assumed that was a fake name, so I did a search and found out that the guy who plays the newspaper editor is the son a very familiar (but unknown) 60s TV actor, John McGiver.
House of Cards was good in the first season, and then went downhill from there. Season 2 was OK, season 3 not so much, 4 & 5 have been pretty poor. Needed to wrap it up tow years ago, not now.
That’s the trouble with Hollywood. They don’t know when to end things. Happy Days was a classic example of this....
TV shows should have a 3 to 4 year run. Not try to milk them into irrelevance.
It’s stunk since season 2... just got more and more rediculous and unbelievable and started the gay crap too... not surprising
I have stated repeatedly....Homosexuals don’t reproduce, they recruit. Also, sodomy is not a civil right.
Yeah, I like seeing James Spader playing a badass. When he walks into a room and just starts shooting people, I have to laugh. No spoiler: hes still a debonair badass in the current season, unlike most anti-heroes who get watered down over time.
Amen,I would like to see charges. This was a small 14 year old boy.He climbed on top of him in bed.He claimed he doesn’t remember but apologizes which means he did it before.Where are the parents.
