Paul Manafort, the onetime chairman of President Donald Trump's campaign, has been indicted along with his former colleague, Rick Gates. The indictments mark the beginning of a new phase in Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian attempts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. The timing of the indictment suggests that Mueller is pursuing a legal strategy typically reserved for cases involving drug cartels and mafia families.

Is this some effort to disqualify or impeach TRUMP? I can’t keep up with all this crap.

There is no “ dirt on Trump”
Of course, another “ dossier” could emerge with Manaforts signature, all voluntary
This circus reminds me of Henry VIII torturing courtiers to admit adultery with the queen

Pardon my yawn. An incident from 2012 has something to do with the 2016 election? Maybe I need to go back to bed.

QUESTION
.
What is the statute of limitations for the alleged crime?

There is this news that Manafort owed some Russian oligrach/mobster $17 millions. I suspect it is related to this.

And what does the typical low information voter conclude after seeing this?

"Hey! It looks like Trump is guilty of something!"

As intended.

An indictment is not a conviction. Just remember that.

Dershowitz is saying the arrest allows them to pressure Manafort to tell some dirty secrets.

Are we still living in America?

Does this apply to the alleged crime?

According to the strictures of federal law, no one can be prosecuted, be brought to trial or be subject to legal penalty for any offense that is not capital unless information is instituted or the person has been indicted within five years of committing the offense. (See 18 USC 3282)

The indictment is purely to try to get him to rat on Trump about anything he knows

I thought it’s been discussed here over and over that Mulehead did have a scope! As for the time frame and funding, you may be correct that there weren’t limits put there.

So this is Mulehead’s bargaining chip in relation to U1. Pretty damn weak imho.

It has nothing to do with Trump. Mueller wanted to do this 10 days before the election. He is covering hard for the Dems. Won’t take too much. Sessions has no intention of monitoring any crimes. Especially those committed by Mueller himself.

Doubt if there will be a pardon here. Manafort was fired for a reason.

Mueller is STILL dirty and should be fired, along with all his flying monkeys.

Mueller’s assignment is to investigate Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

...

And to prosecute any other crimes he may find in the process. That was in his mandate.

“Mueller is pursuing a legal strategy typically reserved for cases involving drug cartels and mafia families.”

So the new narrative will be “Russians, and mobsters, and drugs, OH MY!”
