Just my opinion, but if you aren’t getting people to come to the church, maybe you ought to be examining your sermons and how you are connecting to people, rather than what plaques may be on the walls.
Hear, hear. My experience is that if you take a principled stand and stand by it, the people will come. If you're mealy-mouthed and wishy washy, nobody is going to follow you. Taking these things down exemplifies a lack of leadership, and will make things worse for their attendance, not better.
They're supposed to provide spiritual leadership, guidance and teaching. Nobody wants a leader that blows with the wind and can't make a decision. Not in any sphere of leadership.
