First charges in Russian interference investigation prove probe is no witch hunt
NY Daily News ^ | 10/28/2017 | FRANK MONTOYA JR.

The news broke on Friday night with suitable fanfare that the special counsel has brought the first charges, in the form of a sealed indictment, in connection with his investigation of Russian interference in our democracy and all things associated with it.

I hope it didn't come as a surprise.

While we still don't know exactly who has been indicted — or on what kinds of charges — the reporting, if true, should put to rest, with right-thinking folks (no pun intended) in this country, the notion that the special counsel's investigation is a hoax or a witch hunt or fake news.

Full Title:
First charges in Russian interference investigation prove probe is no witch hunt despite critics who cry 'fake news'

Totally predictable; Useful idiot author does not know who will be charged, what they will be charged with or what evidence the FBI has but is convinced the Russian probe is not political.

It proves NOTHING. Who was it that said “You could indict a ham sandwich” ?

I’m fond of noting that you can indeed indict a ham sandwich, but then you have to prosecute it - which makes you look really stupid.

Um, until we know whom it targeted and for what alleged crimes AND how good the evidence is, it doesn’t prove anything.

Scooter Libby’s jail time had nothing to do with central purpose of the Plame investigation, for example. It was just a perjury trap to ensnare someone, anyone at the White House on anything at all, when the person who actually revealed Plame’s identity was a) not in the White House, b) not a friend of the people the investigator was trying to ensnare at the White House, c) not even charged with anything, and c) known from the beginning of that never-ending fustercluck.

Well, a ham sandwich has some meat to it. We will have to wait to see what Dirty Bob Mueller came up with this time. If it’s like the special investigation during W’s term, Dirty Bob will pull a Scooter Libby out of his hat, and indict some low level guy for covering up a crime that was not committed. Another case where the media went along with the scam.

“First charges in Russian interference investigation prove probe is no witch hunt”

Association fallacy

An association fallacy is an informal inductive fallacy of the hasty-generalization or red-herring

If the charges are just that Flynn or Manafort made misstatements in their disclaimers then I don’t think it proves much.

I've said since day 1 that Mueller HAS to come up with something to justify the time and money spent. My guess, Manafort and/or Flynn with be charged with some sort of “process violation” such as making false statements or the like. Then in a few months Mueller will issue a report basically saying Trump is a most likely a crook, but he was such a good crook the investigation couldn't produce any actual evidence of it. Then the democrats will have what they want, a hit piece to use in the 2018 and 2020 elections and Mueller will look like he didn't just waste million of dollars.

It will probably be a non-event, something like technical violations by someone like Natalia Veselnitskaya and friends.

These guys seem to be jumping the gun a little bit.

I expect the indictment (if there really is one) will be some low-level schmuck who stonewalled on their interview with investigators (like Scooter Libby did) and the indictment will be some trumped up obstruction of justice charge. That will be enough for the MSM and Hillary and her supporters to shout "AHA! Told you so!"

Probably the most likely outcome, but you never know. I’d imagine those would be less than dramatic outcomes, everyone knows Flynn was rather careless and sloppy in his disclosures and Manafort has some VERY convoluted activities in his past.

I’d like to see whomever is indicted found not guilty and a judicial order ordering the DNC to pay the legal bills of the not guilty party.

I don’t understand why this remains sealed until Monday. Why not send a couple marshals and arrest the perp. Does the individual indicted already know?

Just a political move by Mueller to make people think he’s actually doing something. I call BS.
