North American universities have come out in force to warn their students on avoiding "cultural appropriation" in their Halloween costume choices, and some students have run into trouble in their efforts to push back.
Clare McKinney—the president of the conservative Young American's for Freedom of Notre Dame and its sister school, Saint Mary's College—told the Washington Free Beacon she's been sucked into a standoff with the Student Activities Office, which has not approved YAF's request to set up a protest of the sanitization of Halloween.

My spouse is pretty leftist and works at an “institution of higher learning”. Told me they had a “Mexican Food Party” the other day. ALL WHITE COOKS AND ATTENDEES. I said that was “cultural mis-appropriation”. Silence.

I was called on the carpet of an HR director gal today of the “new liberal” persuasion. Seems her job is to dash cold water on anything too conservative. Like talk about caring about sick people (eek, HIPAA!), about faith (eek, EEO!), about being a hick and proud of it (eek, more EEO!), etc. A multifecta of red flags. But they didn’t want to fire me. Oh no... because the client loves me. Which they didn’t want to SAY but they jolly well know!! Part of which love happened due to all this controversial stuff!
Well she’s all gung ho about Halloween. “Don’t Forget!!” she said in email to the whole bloomin’ company. Every office is going to have a decoration contest!
Well I shot her a note asking how considerate this was of traditional Christians. Don’t know how she’s going to sputter back, but yeah. Conservative troll.

This whole “cultural appropriation” is the most ridiculous joke in the world. If you are half Hawaiian and half black you can dress up as the Rock but NO ONE ELSE, PERIOD. And only those with Swiss Jewish ancestry better dare dress up as Albert Einstein. And you better be half white to dress up as Obama or else!

How can you guys handle having lefty spouses? I would be too turned off. I do have some apolitical liberal friends who are really more ill informed than dogmatic communists. Maybe that is the situation in your homes.
