Just like everything in politics, people only care one way or the other based on their affiliation. It’s a switch. It’s amazing to behold because people like to think they have intellectual integrity and they don’t see their absurd bias.
I remember having a debate with certain left-leaning family remembers last summer about Wiki-leaks and potentially getting dirt on Hillary from Russians as well. They thought it was the lowest of the low and that it was illegal and disqualified him from further running for president. He needed to drop out. Even though I typically call myself a libertarian and at that point was giving very little verbal support for Trump, I still defended him in this. I said, if I was campaign manager for president or dog catcher and I heard there was someone who had dirt on my opponent, I would meet with them. I would be less concerned with who it is and more concerned with how credible the information is.
They hissed at at me.
I said, well, what about this golden shower dossier that is rumored to be out there. Is that okay?
Yeah, well if he does all this groping of women or says he does, then maybe he has wild deviant orgies too and the people should know!
I said, doesn’t this seem hypocritical? Do you care that we don’t know who the source is or how credible it is?
**cricket sounds and scowling faces**
All of a sudden, when the tables turn, in light of what we know now, Russians being the source of influence, collusion, and even conspiracy, it’s okay.
We all know why. People whore themselves out to the end result. People don’t really care about details. They have no interest in being fair or about any rules. The only time something is unfair or against the rules is when it hurts their team.
I’m not talking about campaign staffs and beltway insiders. I’m talking about people on the street. Particularly single issue voters. The abortion rights people for example; many of them hate pro-lifers with dark malace, and consider nothing in the political world to have rules. They may not admit as much. They may front some idealistic standing. But they have none.
and consider nothing in the political world to have rules.
And to some extent, based on what weve witnessed in the last 30 years at least, youd have to conclude they were right...except in the political world when polarization becomes as extreme as you ably point out there is rule that becomes absolute...and its at the end of the barrel of a gun.
Yes. Had a conversation several years ago with a Liberal. Said no one should have a gun because, he said, if he had one he would use it to kill several people he knew.

Sounds like certain management at a couple organizations I’ve seen in action. There’s a reason some folks have scum working for them; they’re doing their handiwork.
