That might have been a good formula but now many carry their Bible in their cellphone, including me. It was pointless to lug around a book that could get misplaced or lost when you could have God’s Word available on your cell at very little cost. When a conversation comes up and somebody asks “where in the Bible does it say...?” - boom, it’s right in my phone.
This was in the early ‘80s. I only have a flip-phone, but I’m mystified how I’d take notes on the pastor’s sermon next to the relevant text in my smart-phone.
