Senate Republican candidates remain increasingly reluctant to back Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for Senate Majority Leader.
The Hill asked nearly two dozen Senate GOP candidates if they would support McConnell as the Senates leader if elected, but not one candidate said that they would openly back McConnell. The Hills revelation details the ongoing war between the Republican establishment and the conservative and populist grassroots, led by former White House chief strategist and Breitbart News executive chairman Steve Bannon.
One top aide to a GOP Senate campaign said that Senate candidates have to walk a tightrope between the establishment and the conservative grassroots.
Ten years ago when you ran campaigns, especially after 9/11, it was all about leadership. You could talk about your role in Congress in making things better, the aide told the Hill. Now Republican voters want to burn the place down, so you have more of a tightrope.

If these candidates want a chance to be elected, they better not support ol’ Mitch.
Now Republican voters want to burn the place down
To put it mildly
I don’t want “reluctant”; I want “no!”.
Only Cheap Labor Express stooges support McConnell’s leadership.
We need to repeal and replace Wicker, Hatch, Heller and Flake this next cycle with people who represent the citizens and not illegal aliens and their employers.
Please mr McConnell at least step down from the majority leader post
They’ll wait until elected then will fall in line. Worst thing they can do is back a loser.
They might not publicly support the turtle, but they’ll get right in line to support him when it comes to a vote. And good conservatives will wonder what on earth happened?
We need to get someone who will be a great majority leader...not Mitch...
Just say NO to RINO’s.
Send GOPers packing.
Worthless bunch of go along get along creeps.
REal conservatives or go fish.
This was a August KY state polling and the numbers haven’t budged since.
A Public Policy Polling survey found just 18 percent of respondents approve of the job McConnell is doing, compared with 74 percent who disapprove.
