The head of the World Health Organization on Sunday reversed his decision to name Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe as a goodwill ambassador, following widespread uproar.
“Over the last few days, I have reflected on my appointment of H.E. President Robert Mugabe as WHO Goodwill Ambassador for (Non-communicable diseases) in Africa. As a result, I have decided to rescind the appointment,” the head of the UN agency, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said in a statement. […]
Tedros had announced the appointment earlier this week during a speech in Uruguay, where he praised Zimbabwe as “a country that places universal health coverage and health promotion at the center of its policies to provide health care to all”.

Jimmy Carter didn’t speak out against the appointment, but oddly enough, Samantha Power did. I’d say it’s just about as ridiculous an appointment as the appointment of Tedros himself.
This is amazing... not even liberals could stomach the UN’s attempt to lionize Mugabe. Too bad they aren’t as discerning with all brutal thug dictators.
I figured this appointment was done to gain access to Rhodesia and was considered a necessary cost of doing business. That is bad enough but definitely unconscionable if done for any other reason.

I think removal without warning for the entire cast, crew, and the building would be a vast improvement for the climate, culture, and tax base in NYC.

I can’t help but laugh at that slogan, since it was the US (it’s most left-wing politicians, that is, especially Alger Hiss who made the UN Charter into a clone of the USSR’s constitution) that created the UN in the first place. It’s like saying “Frankenstein out of the Monster and the Monster out of Frankenstein”. The UN needs to be destroyed.
