Hours after Chief of Staff John Kelly's emotional defense of President Trump in the White House briefing room, Trump sent out the following tweet:
"The Fake News is going crazy with wacky Congresswoman Wilson (D), who was SECRETLY on a very personal call, and gave a total lie on content!" Trump wrote Thursday night.
The running feud between Trump and Wilson over Trump's condolence call to the widow of Sgt. La David Johnson continues into Friday, as Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) was scheduled to appear on CNN's morning news show to react to Kelly calling her an "empty barrel."
In his remarks to reporters on Thursday, Kelly said, "It stuns me that a member of Congress would have listened in" on President Trump's conversation with Johnson's widow. "Absolutely stuns me," he repeated. He called Wilson's behavior "selfish." And he also called her an "empty barrel."
That comment came at the end of his remarks as Kelly noted that in April 2015, when he was still on active duty, "I went to the dedication of the new FBI field office in Miami. And it was dedicated to two men who were killed in a firefight in Miami against drug traffickers in 1986 by the name of Grogan and Duke," he said:
So, we go down. Jim Comey gave an absolutely brilliant memorial speech to those fallen men and the -- and to all of the men and women of the FBI who serve our country so well and law enforcement so well.
There were family members there. Some of the children that were there were only 3 or 4 years old when their dads were killed on that street in Miami-Dade. Three of the men that survived the fight were there and gave a rendition of how brave those men were and how they gave their lives.
And a congresswoman [Wilson] stood up, and in a long tradition of empty barrels making the most noise, stood up there in all of that and talked about how she was instrumental in getting the funding for that building, and how she took care of her constituents because she got the money, and she just called up President Obama, and on that phone call, he gave the money, the $20 million, to build the building, and she sat down.
And we were stunned, stunned that she'd done it. Even for someone that is that empty a barrel, we were stunned.
But, you know, none of us went to the press and criticized. None of us stood up and were appalled. We just said, OK, fine.
So, I still hope, as you write your stories, and I appeal to America, that let's not let this maybe last thing that is held sacred in our society, a young man, a young woman going out and giving his or her life for our country, let's try to somehow keep that sacred.
But it eroded a great deal yesterday by the selfish behavior of a member of Congress.
More to come after Rep. Wilson speaks to CNN's "New Day."
“ok, Trump and Co.,,,,let it go and move on.”
Absolutely not!!!
President Trump & Company are doing exactly what I want them to do: Fight back against progressive liars 24/7!
I wonder if this woman will even try to remember this is not about HER, but about respect and condolences for the fallen soldier and his family.
The best advise any one can give her now is to hide in a sink hole, and never open up her mouth. Especially when there are microphones around and camera rolling.
This nut case of a Congresswoman is undeniable proof of what diversity for the sake of diversity produces. It happens in government, in the work place, in education— everywhere it is put into effect. The worst possible place is our military. Yes, we can see examples even at our military academies. Simply go to one of their football or basketball games.
Isn’t anyone but me OUTRAGED that this woman listened in on a private conversation of the President no less? Shouldn’t she be centured (sp) at the least. She’s a moose dressed as a cowboy and an ugly one at that.
It is NOT Bush tone: I did not say do not fight back...they did and now its done...to keep it up is to play into their hands...they will keep niggling with this minor dust up and as long as he prolongs it they will have their story of the day. and he is gaining nothing no matter how “right” he is and yes I do believe he is right.
Yeah, I like that he fights...so fight for real: fire Mueller and Rosenstein immediately for actual cause: the uranium deal.
Drain the effin swamp already. Screwin around with some dumble all hat and no cattle is not moving the ball. scratch some dirt on it like a dog does and go to the next fight.
That is all I am saying...
Throw in McCabe
Exactly - this was a setup to attack! Well no more - keep fighting until you get a Megan Kelly result! Dems are low, godless, and hateful. And for Bush to push the bigot fake narrative yesterday was it for me! Time to save our country !
How about Fredrika moving on? Now she is criticiIng the President for not calling the widow by her name.
WE HEAR NOTHING ABOUT THE FAMILIES OF THE OTHER FALLEN SOLDIERS........JUST THE DRAMA OF THIS ONE BECAUSE A BLACK CONGRESSWOMAN AND FAMILY ARE PLAYING THE RACE CARD.
You made your points and nothing is to be gained by keeping this alive any longer."
Bull Dung!
You fight till you win, not until you, some RINO like collins & that two bit bimbo in Alaska suggest otherwise.
That is EXACTLY what you are saying.
You keep on hitting them. Again, and again, and again. Sorry you can't see that.
No, it is NOT done. Not by a long shot. They will keep this up.
Now I want him to hit McCain, Collins, Flake and that two bit political sanah from Alaska.
Exactly! You keep hitting the empty-headed Cowboy Lady until SHE moves on. Eventually someone from the Congressional Black Caucus will grab her and tell her to STFU - it's over.
Then you win. To play "Bush" is to lose.
OK Adder, is it time to move on, or do we fight back?
Military hating POS!
Florida Democrat Wilson no friend of veterans, vote record shows http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/10/19/florida-democrat-wilson-no-friend-veterans-vote-record-shows.html
There, I fixed it for you
Is she an empty Congresswoman who’s a wacky barrel in a cowboy hat?
;^)
Is she up for election, again?
Congresswoman All-Hat-No-Cattle, being a member of Congress, must run for re-election every 2 years. She was first elected in 2010, succeeding Kendrick Meek. She is 74 years old.
