It ruins my small engines.

Yep. It dissolved the fuel lines in my weed trimmer, rendering it unrepairable.

That was all the evidence I needed. And, no, Stabil don't prevent this.

There's a few stations near by that have dedicated pumps for ethanol-free gas. It's about $.50 more per gallon but that's all I'll use in my small engines.

I use Race Trak in my area and still put Stabil in each of the 5 gallon jugs I use for hurricane preparedness and then start to use those after hurricane season is ended. At least every 3 months I run each of the things like the generator, to keep its battery charged, and pressure washer in ready state. I go ahead and do some washing since it is out and running.

I had to cut the ethanol gas with kerosene or diesel to condition the lines , preventing the oxygenates from corroding them.

It works like oxydants in your body, oxydising everything and destroying.

My father in law in Denver, has a tank on site and gets gas delivered to it, as he refuses to use the ethanol crap at local stations.
