Yes, I’d have to agree with both of your assessments.
While I do agree that we can push the multi-culturalism angle to the point Los Angeles has less than 50% of it’s adults, who can function in business English, that is the other end of the spectrum.
What is important is that those who come here come in numbers that don’t overwhelm our communities, regions, states, or nation.
The goal is instill our values into all that do come here.
Then we become one despite our heredity.
I agree with the idea that Western Civilization wound up creating something special. I do not fear others having a slice of that pie if they want to do it peacefully, become one with us and pull together.
As for foreign nations, I’m happy to see them do well also.
This isn’t a competition, at least we shouldn’t demand it be.
All nations should start at home with peace, and try to work together.
That’s the problem I have with the Islamic people right now.
They do not come here to adopt our ways, or be one of us. They come where with the express idea of changing us to their way of living.
These two societies do not gel right now.
Perhaps in 100 to 500 years, Islam may mellow and then be a positive player on the world stage. Until then, NO!

We should not be mean to other races or peoples, but we shouldn’t simply surrender the West either.
We need to stop all immigration for 30 years or so, assimilate and send some of the riff raff back.
It’s been done before. It’s time to do it again.
It needs to be done humanely, and with reason. Good luck with that, but things are clearly upside down right now.
We have 46 million recent immigrants. That’s way too much.
