I had never heard of Travis Bickle or the 1976 movie Taxi Driver where DeNiro is the main actor.

Reading on Wikipedia about the low-life, Godless person that DeNiro portrays, you get a deep appreciation for the utter depravity of a soul who would agree to play that role.

Taxi Driver was probably prescient of Hollywood's turn into anti-American, atheistic scum. DeNiro is the epitome of the lawless, dark actor who could care less about the culture. He is a Satan glorified by a sick culture, a destroyer of civilized worlds.

DeNiro is to acting as Obama is to the office of POTUS.

“Taxi Driver”, never saw the movie but do remember DeNiro starring in the flick along with Jodie Foster. For some reason (the plot was skanky, perhaps?) no desire to waste my time nor money. DeNiro is certainly no Duvall. He is more of a Richard Dreyfuss.

It still is a good movie that expertly depicted the depravity and decay of NYC in the mid ‘70s. Bickle’s character was a Vietnam vet suffering from some level of mental illness.
