Chalk up the Harvey Weinstein sex scandal as one of the most unsurprising big media stories of the modern era. It's like when a magazine run by liberals and devoted to promoting and encouraging the "sex, drugs, and rock and roll" lifestyle flubs a story about campus rape. (And subsequently and quite deservedly gets sued into near oblivion.) In other words, almost no one should be surprised that a big-time Hollywood producer and film studio executive such as Harvey Weinstein is a sexual miscreant.
If you want to find a "rape culture," look no farther than Tinseltown. Hollywood is littered with men and women who are sexual predators and provocateurs ready and willing to take advantage of most anyone and any situation in order to satisfy their lust and greed. People who have no qualms about filling their movies and television shows with smut are also prone to filling their personal lives with smut.
I can think of no culture, no industry, no group of people less qualified to lecture anyone especially the culture at large about sexual immorality than the depraved, sex-crazed deviants that permeate Hollywood, USA. The smug Jimmy Kimmel whose early claim to fame was as the co-host of Comedy Central's trashy The Man Show should get nowhere near a compass of any sort, and especially not a "moral compass." Likewise, most every well known Hollywood actor, actress, producer, director, et al. has played a role in corrupting the sexual mores of America.

Glad I missed all that...............
When there are public prayers that are supposed to be nondenominational to Gd, sometimes they hit it really well, and sometimes they just don’t. I have nothing against Christian prayers. I feel blessed to hear them at events or funerals or wherever they are appropriate. (Yes, I roll my eyes when the athlete thanks Jesus for his team’s win, like Jesus hates his opponents...;))
But for my little kids, at a public school I’d prefer they weren’t praying prayers that don’t work well for us... I am sure everyone feels that way.
Christian prayers are AWESOME! But more for Christians! :)
There was also the joke about the girl with ten notches on her virgin’s pin.
Maybe the code did influence morals of the time. When I was really young I thought people were better than they were in the 70s. I got that imporession from the old movies. And back then, at least SOME of the ingenues probably cared about their virtue.
Hollywood is a little (or a lot) like organized crime. All kinds of licentiousness and lasciviousness was going on, but some of the bosses could sometimes be rather decent family men, so far as sex and drugs and drink went. If they lost control in any way, they risked losing control of their firms. Case in point: Harvey Weinstein lost control over his impulses, and ended up losing control over his outfit.
Nowadays, much production is done outside LA. You can look on that as Hollywood's corruption spreading, but it's also being diluted and dispersed. Doubtless sleazy stuff is going on now in Vancouver or Toronto or Atlanta or Brisbane, but it's probably less spectacular and less widespread that what happens in LA or NYC.
I missed that one!
