LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas investigators offered a new version of events Friday in a shifting timeline surrounding the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history as they described how the gunman opened fire on nearby airport jet fuel tanks and on police officers arriving at the massacre.
Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo held a highly anticipated news conference alongside the top FBI agent in Las Vegas amid questions about whether police could have done more to stop gunman Stephen Paddock on Oct. 1.
They provided no new information about Paddock's motivation as he killed 58 people and wounded more than 500 at a country music festival. Forty-five people remain hospitalized in critical condition, Lombardo said.

Yes, and the source video seems to back that up. It appears that Paddock may have fired sniper shots into the crowd to see if he was generally aiming in the right place before unloading his 100 round mags.
You believe anything the government says? Why? When has the government, ANY government, done anything other than obfuscate and cover its own ass? Only a moron would believe, unquestioningly, the “official” story about anything.
Wow, that’s amazing. I keep studying it and it is starting to make more sense to me.
Amazing that a guy on the internet can figure this out but the authorities are still trying to figure out what is going on.
Who needs 23 RIFLES for a mass shooting? Anyone? Anyone care to answer this question? THIS IS THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM!!!
The MB Massacre was an undercover arms deal gone bad. NONE of the alphabet agencies would DARE tell us the truth about what happened on Oct. 1st at 10pm. Hey 10pm, sounds like a good time for an 'appointment'..
I am not convinced security guard Campos was not involved in either the planning or the execution of the massacre. Too many photos of him with his MUZZIE BEARD for me to be suspicious:
Jesus Campos sporting a Muzzie beard:
Paddock is in the room for a week.
House keeping does not enter the room and see all the guns on the floor
Oct 1 at about 10 pm, Paddock gets sloppy and leaves the door ajar? Why? Were people coming and going toting guns and ammo?

(The bottom of Anns column:)
The most likely explanation is that the reporters and investigators are incompetent nitwits. But the changing facts from law enforcement and preposterous lies from the press arent doing a lot to tamp down alternative theories of the crime.
Among the questions not being asked by our wildly incurious media:
Why would Paddock unload 200 rounds into the hallway at a security guard who was checking on someone elses room before beginning his massacre?
How can it possibly take eight days to figure out when the alleged shooter checked into the hotel?
Why was Paddock wearing gloves if he was about to commit suicide?
Have any other solitary mass shooters ever had girlfriends?
If Paddock wasnt making money on video poker and he wasnt why would he be cycling millions of dollars through a casino, turning every dollar into, at best, 99 cents?
Maybe Paddock enjoyed video poker. But if the allegedly serious media are going to keep telling us he was making a living doing it, theyre just begging us to say that losing a percent or two on millions of dollars doesnt make sense as an investment strategy, but it does make sense as a money laundering operation.
And the probable illicit business requiring money to be laundered that leaps out at us in Paddocks case is illegal gun sales. If true, it would not only explain the arsenal in his hotel room, but also raises the possibility of either an accomplice or different perpetrator altogether.
If this were a movie script, a terrorist would go to Paddocks room on the pretense of buying guns, kill Paddock, commit the massacre, put his gunshot residue-covered gloves on Paddocks dead hands and slip out of the room when the coast was clear.
According to the all-new timeline given by the Las Vegas police pending a third revision this is at least possible. The hallway was empty, except for a bleeding security guard down by the elevators, for at least two minutes after the shooting stopped. The stairwell was clear for more than half an hour. It also explains the gloves.
Theres no evidence for any of this, but on the other hand, theres no evidence for the version the media are giving us. At least the movie script version doesnt require us to pretend that Paddock was making millions from video poker.
11:20 Police finally decide to check the room. (At any point, the unknown shooter might have finished fixing a badly jammed rifle, jumped up, and started shooting again. The scene was not “contained.” The police blew it. It’s pure luck the shooting didn’t start up again.)
Sheriff’s demeanor was very odd.
Wouldn’t look at the camera, angry, rattled, nervous, and highly emotional. Not remotely professional. What on earth is going on?

“Who needs 23 RIFLES for a mass shooting? Anyone? Anyone care to answer this question? THIS IS THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM!!!”
He probably used most of them. See this timeline. https://imgur.com/Me4aIiB
It supports the notion that he used a different rifle for each 100 round magazine burst. Instead of reloading he likely used a different rife. Some probably jammed and weren’t used.
I’ve been leaning toward Ann’s “movie script” theory for days.
I thought the same thing. A body language specialist is in order here. He looked very nervous and did indeed refrain from looking up and out to the press. His fear of being asked questions was palpable, nor did he take any afterward. He looked like he was sick of lying and fed up with his job.
Thanks for posting that here. Couldn’t figure out how to do it.
I suspect the “blast” is a super sonic wave (from a bullet) passing very close to the sound recorder. I also suspect the “firecrackers” that people described hearing are also super sonic waves fairly close to them as the bullets passed.
Very interesting timeline. It makes those firecracker noises sensible (just 7 shots in the first minute). Also very interesting that there were ten distinct volleys of 100 shots at first (at 10 seconds each volley except the last), then probably some misfires with the final volleys, one or more less than 100 shots.
The last volley was spread out over 3 minutes or so ... I guess the shooter had to start aiming, and it took longer to complete the 100 shot magazine.
1. The shooter could not shoot at the police at the entrance from inside the North window. He could only shoot at police who were on the North side of the entrance.
2. The entrance to the Mandalay Bay is under cover of a full roof structure. The Police station is one block SOUTH of the MB Resort. Police cars would have only been under fire for 1-2 seconds when the came around the East Wing of the building at the East Main Entrance.
3. "deliberately shot at the fuel tanks" Paddock was a pilot. Jet-A will not burn nor blow up in the tank from a rifle round and he would have known that, or should have as a pilot.
Notice from the diagram below that there would have been a COMPLETELY different type of target list were he shooting up to 1000 yards out of the East facing window.
There do appear to be alarms on the guest room hotel doors. On a travel website an MB guest said he was told by security that if a guest room door is ajar for more than 3 to 5 minutes they have a system called “hot sauce” which alerts security. Apparently there is a problem with room theft at MB.
There do not appear to be alarms on the fire doors. I saw a youtube video posted some time ago by some teenage girls staying in MB and running in and out the fire door and up and down the stairways, acting silly. The fire door opens with a twist handle and there appears to be no electronics at all on it, at least on the upper floors.
So having said that it appears their new version is:
Before 9:59 pm: the hot sauce system alerts security that a door is ajar in the 100 corridor on 32, not Paddock’s door but further down. Campos is told to check it out.
9:59 Campos is on another floor and rather than take the elevators he goes into the stairwell and goes to 32. He tries to get in but the fire door is somehow blocked (Paddock had screwed it shut from the hallway side). Campos calls security and says the fire door is blocked, security then calls maintenance which passes the word to Schuck to check it out.
Campos takes the stairs to another floor and works his way back to 32 and the 100 corridor. He finds the room with the door ajar alarm and resolves it.
He then hears drilling from the end of the corridor and walks toward Paddock’s suite. He does not knock on the door. I believe it is clear that Paddock’s door was closed at all times.
Paddock sees him coming via his camera system and shoots out the door at Campos. Campos is hit in the leg and hops into a recessed doorway to shield himself.
10:05 pm Paddock starts firing out the window
After 10:05 Schuck shows up on the 100 corridor to check out the blocked fire door. He hears nothing at first. As he walks down the corridor, he hears shooting in the room at the end of the door. Campos sees him coming, pops his head out and says take cover, Schuck ducks into a doorway just as Paddock fires down the corridor.
10:15 final shots in room
10:17 cops and security arrive on floor
According to your theory he'd have to fire a different rifle every 26 seconds while jockeying for position at two windows in two adjoining rooms. WHEN YOU ADD THE PAUSES BETWEEN SHOTS THERE'S NO POSSIBLE WAY ALL 23 RIFLES WERE USED, NOT EVEN CLOSE.
I have read the 2nd two. Have not seen the first one. Will read it now.
My view also, had to be a belt fed weapon being fired for those kind of losses.
