President Trump said Friday he’s decertifying the Iranian nuclear deal forged under the Obama administration, but stopped short of ending the international agreement, instead giving Congress 60 days to take a tougher approach toward Tehran’s lawless behavior.
“We will not continue down a path whose predictable conclusion is more violence, more terror and the very real threat of Iran’s nuclear breakout,” Mr. Trump said. “Iran is not living up to the spirit of the deal.”
In an address from the White House, the president also said he’s directing the Treasury Department to sanction Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps over its support of terrorism in the Middle East, calling it a “long overdue step.”
“History has shown the longer we ignore a threat, the more dangerous that threat becomes,” the president said.
Mr. Trump, who has called the 2015 agreement signed by President Obama a “horrible” deal and threatened to rip it up, instead decided reluctantly to try to beef up the restrictions on Tehran by going to Congress.

President Trump has given Congress, the REPUBLICAN led Congress, the opportunity to redeem themselves.........put their asses on the line. President Trump still has the TRUMP card.

Congress needs to reimpose sanctions Obama lifted. But that won’t happen because Boeing and their big donors want to do business with Iran.
At several points in his speech, P Trump emphasized his sympathy with the Iranian people who are also victims of the ruling tyranny. He was smart going after the Republican Guard as they are the most “worldly” in their economic activities, and after decades may not be as “religious” as they once were. Sanctions against them could work. Kemenei has a large, well paid personal guard force. The more moderate President is part of a third force, and the other religious leaders are the forth major sphere of influence in Iran.
