Calif. Democrat Tells HUD Secretary to Get Familiar With Procedure for Removing Trump
CNS News ^ | 10/13/17 | Susan Jones

A California Democrat urged Housing Secretary Ben Carson to get familiar with a provision in the U.S. Constitution that allows for the removal of a president who is declared "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office."

Unable so far to get rid of a president they despise, some Democrats and liberal activists, including those in the media, have raised the possibility of declaring Trump unfit for office.

"Beyond your responsibilities for Housing and Urban Development, you have other responsibilities under the Constitution, along with other Cabinet secretaries, particularly Section 4 of the 25th Amendment," Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.) told Carson on Thursday as the House Financial Services Committee held a HUD oversight hearing.

"And we all live by this Constitution," Sherman continued:

"I -- the -- Section 4 deals with the possibility that a president is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Have you taken the time to get legal counsel to brief you on what your responsibility is, as a Cabinet secretary, under the 25th Amendment?" Sherman asked Carson.

"I have not had any in-depth discussions of that," Carson replied.

"I would urge you to do so," Sherman told Carson. "This amendment was written in the early '60s as a result of what we -- life that happens, whether it's the dangers that a president faces, whether it's the health problems a president can face.

"I would urge you first to get legal counsel, to know what your responsibilities are, and second, to discuss with other Cabinet officers how you would implement Section 4 of the 25th Amendment."

Sherman's time was up, and Carson did not reply.

Section 4 of the 25th Amendment reads in part:

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Earlier this year, on July 12, Sherman filed Articles of Impeachment against Donald J. Trump for high crimes and misdemeanors.

Sherman argued that Trump committed Obstruction of Justice by pressuring FBI Director James Comey to abandon the investigation of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and by seeking to thwart the Russia Investigation.

The left truly believes their ideas and plans are the only ones that should be followed. They get their confirmation by the media and academics, so they must be right. Anyone that doesn’t follow in lockstep must be crazy and or racists. They are free to put on any label they choose.I am completely sick of it.

Brad Sherman should be brought up on charges on being a nutcase.

He is a loathsome creature.

“This guy is of Russian Jewish descent.”

Yes, and he’s giving decent Jews the same kind of headache as Harvey Weinstein!
And thankfully, he left Danville and went to SoCal to be the crap weasel he is today
It is to our everlasting shame that he grew up here.

“There are many Russian Jews who are solid conservatives.”

Name a few! I worked for one who was a complete a$$hole who didn't know or care to know anything about Judaism. But he sure as hell used his “Jewish heritage” to advance his business career.

More confirmation that this is a route the uniparty will take to try to get Trump. I wish he’d put more loyalists and fewer generals and liberal NY Democrat types in his cabinet.

Oh, well—the more he follows through on his agenda (e.g., enforcing our current laws against illegal immigration) the better. Starting to listen to Rand Paul on healthcare is a good start. But even bigger than that is building the wall and kicking out illegals without any amnesty.

Jews from Russia, especially emigres from the Soviet Union, tend to be very conservative. Look at this article (a little old but still valid), browse through the comments, and you will get the idea.

In politics I call this sort of thing a “whispering” campaign, though in this age of Internet blogs and other “social” media, it’s done no longer at a whisper. The affect is the same. It’s an attempt to get some critical mass of belief achieved, rightly or not, to cause some action to be taken. All it requires is the repetition of the “whisper” to keep spreading in enough directions until even “friends” of the person start to become believers - again, whether true grounds exist for the cause or not. We have already seen this “whisper” coming out in some RINO circles.

However, I don’t think Ben Carson is or will be a believer, and will not be passing the whisper on himself.

I wonder what levels of compensation are being slyly implied to the Cabinet Secretaries.

Brad's mouth should stop writing checks that he can't cash.

They should skin that smokewagon, and see what happens.

Being a Bogart fan, I see it like this:

They’re trying to pull a “Queeg” on Trump. Just a little different from the movie “The Caine Mutiny”, but using the media to make Trump look “deranged,” then try to use the 25th to have him relieved, preferably during a crisis, which will most likely be started by the dems.
