Tennessee Titans Player Says He’ll Quit The NFL If Forced To Stand For The Anthem
Smokeroom ^ | 10/12/17 | David Hookstead

Tennessee Titans player Rishard Matthews tweeted Thursday that he’ll quit the NFL if the league implements a rule forcing players to stand during the anthem.

“No I will be done playing football,” Matthews tweeted and ultimately deleted when asked if he would be willing to face punishment for not standing if a new rule is implemented.

This is a very dumb tweet, for multiple reasons. Matthews is forcing himself into a corner. What will he do if a new rule is passed, and the Titans call his bluff? He’s going to be out of a job that pays millions simply because he won’t stand for the anthem.

That’s not smart business. This wouldn’t be a problem if he had simply tweeted that he’d be very upset, but instead he took it all the way. Should be really interesting to if he ends up following through on his threat or not.

Okay by me if he wants to quit rather than pay homage to the flag and the Star Spangled Banner.

I’m sure there will be many job opportunities for a person with that attitude.

“Imagine an NFL without angry, racist negroes.”

Or, as they are now known, kneegroes.

There are plenty of jobs outside the NFL where the only job skill is, “can me take yo oder peeze.” He’ll do fine.

...if he were to fallow through with his claim that he will quit over standing I might have an iota of respect but I am sure I wont have to eat my words...

He could kneel, burn the flag on the sideline, and the NFL still wouldn't do anything (well maybe the Flag Burning part would be cause for dismissal since it adds to Carbon emissions...).

Instead of a knee, he can take a fricking hike to Cuba.

I wonder if the Titans can sue him, for the money they have wasted. Something along the lines of failure of intent to fulfill contract

Get to steppin’

You mean "Gets to steppin'". Admittedly, Ebonics can be tricky, especially conjugation.

They might not have to. Depends on the contract. He got a $2.5 million signing bonus for a three year contract. He’d likely have to give back a third of the signing bonus for opting out a year early.

It is the logical outcome of high schools and colleges giving social promotions to scholastically unqualified guys with formidable football skillz. Eventually, those undeveloped cognitive skillz are their undoing.

Apparently, when it comes to selfish, divisive individuals disrespecting the flag, there is an "I" in team.

And there are 2 I's in "IdIot" A word invented for situations just like this. And to think that this guy went to college. Whoever funded his education should demand a refund.
