Texas State University Seeks Math Professors Committed To ‘Social Justice’

Texas State University has opened two new job openings for math education professors, with the caveat that they have to demonstrate a commitment to social justice. According to a Campus Reform report Tuesday, the university is seeking—for at least one of the two math professorship positions—not only a commitment to social justice, but “evidence of research” on the subject..... “We are especially interested in applicants whose scholarly interests and work include attention to the concerns of race, ethnicity, multilingualism, immigrant, social class, gender, and diversity, broadly defined,” the notice states.

This place used to be called Southwest Texas State University.

Fun place, excellent instructors. . .I graduated from there when it was SWT, received a BSci in Criminal Justice and a Master of Political Science.

Used to belong to the alumni association until all of us received a mass emailing from the “new” college president (this was decades ago).

The new president said in the email that when the search committee contacted him, “My first thought was who are these people? Never heard of them. And they are not in the south and they aren't in the west. They need to change their name.”

Quit the alumni association right then and there.
