In hindsight and with much regret, I have come to the conclusion that there was little conservative about Bush I or Bush II.
They fooled us pretty well at the time, but the policies were progressive.

More correctly, their policies propagated the Deep State.

[For the spelling Nazis: “them-there policies propagated the Deep State.” and “they’re policies that propagated the Deep State.” [although there is grammatical subject/verb correlation in that use].

The alternatives were Clinton and Gore. What else could we have done? Perot had revealed himself to either be unhinged or not serious about winning. If he had been the Trump Phenomenon would have occurred a quarter-century ago.
