I agree with you! Also what is the ‘Fuel Source”,? Type of areas and accessibility to fight the fires? Are the homes in suburban or rural areas?
In some rural area, you are urge(forced) to provide a water supply (lake, river or pond)to provide fire protection. A reservoir is for the owners use and the Fire Dept., when they show! Years ago they showed plans for a sprinkler system(all metal) to place atop buildings. It specified using self contained gas powered pump.
The magazine “Progressive Farmer” has had articles/plans on self protection for rural areas for years.

Thanks for this link...I plan to buy farmette in a few years, and this is something I have wondered about.

When I was driving up in UP Michigan, I saw a house completely engulfed in flames...So sad...There were water trucks bringing water from everywhere nearby—putting water into a makeshift water tank/pool in the middle of the road...remote areas where fire trucks cannot get to easily do present a problem.
