Why the Harvey Weinstein Sexual-Harassment Allegations Didn’t Come Out Until Now
The Cut ^ | October 5, 2017 | Rebecca Traister

Weinstein didn’t like my question about O, there was an altercation; though the recording has alas been lost to time, I recall that he called me a c##t and declared that he was glad he was the “f####ng sheriff of this f####ng lawless piece-of-s##t town.” When my colleague Andrew (who was also then my boyfriend) intervened, first calming him down and then trying to extract an apology, Weinstein went nuclear, pushing Andrew down a set of steps inside the Tribeca Grand — knocking him over with such force that his tape recorder hit a woman, who suffered long-term injury — and dragging Andrew, in a headlock, onto Sixth Avenue.

Such was the power of Harvey Weinstein in 2000 that despite the dozens of camera flashes that went off on that sidewalk that night, capturing the sight of an enormously famous film executive trying to pound in the head of a young newspaper reporter, I have never once seen a photo. Back then, Harvey could spin — or suppress — anything; there were so many journalists on his payroll, working as consultants on movie projects, or as screenwriters, or for his magazine.

After that incident, which was reported as a case of an aggressive reporter barging into a party she wasn’t invited to and asking impertinent questions, I began to hear from lots of other people, now other reporters, who were working, often for years, to nail down the story of Harvey’s sexual abuses, and thought that I, as someone who’d been a firsthand witness to his verbal and physical ones, could help.

There is a lot of liberal b.s. in this article, but some incredibly important info: namely, that in 2000, at the peak of the presidential election campaign, a violent assault by Harvey Weinstein against reporters was witnessed by DOZENS (at least) of media people, with many flashing photos.... yet the incident was barely reported and totally mis-represented.

This is incredibly powerful testimony from an insider about the utter degradation and corruption of the US media.

First-hand witness testimonial that dozens if not HUNDREDS of media people knew in 2000 of Harvey Weinstein’s wild assault on a reporter. The writer acknowledges that lots of women contacted her at that time regarding the sexual harassment issues, yet the extensive cover-up continued.

The media, Demoncraps, and Hollyweird people are virtually all dishonest, corrupt, malicious, and evil.

"there were so many journalists on his payroll, working as consultants on movie projects, or as screenwriters, or for his magazine"

Well, surely, they were not ALL working 'directly' for him on payroll, but so many WANTED to work for him in the future, and/or worked for totally complicity media outlets which were/are part of the Hollywood-industrial complex. Also, many simply did not want to take on a liberal icon and power broker....

Harvey is no “sheriff” but a Hollywood Mafioso thug.

Hollywood made its number one goal the undoing of traditional moral law and traditional moral sensibility.

In the Weinstein debacle, Hollywood experiences the truth that traditional morals are not only indispensable but they are also the only place you can look when you need to be saved from power when it turns ugly.

I saw a Variety reporter on Fox this morning. He says it is a coup designed by Weinstein’s brother, Bob. And that Bob leaked it to The NYTimes. I believe this.

I’m kind of happy about the whole Harvey Weinstein affair, in the same way the liberals are happy about the Vegas shooting or any dead Soldier. Rats love it when they have a crisis to leverage, especially if it involves dead conservatives.

Wait until all of Hollywood’s casting couches are exposed, gay, straight, minors...

One thing that is very interesting is how fast Harvey Weinstein managed to go from essentially total “outsider” to “insider” in the movie business..... because when he started producing movies in the 1980s (he and his brother Bob co-founded Miramax) it was first a tiny insurgent entity based in NYC..... first making concert documentaries, then they hit it big distributing the Sundance Film Festival hit “Sex, Lies, and Videotape” which helped (at the end of the ‘80s) to begin to put Miramax, the Sundance Festival, and “independent” filmmaking on the map alongside the major Hollywood studios.

Then Miramax might have remained a tiny niche player except that they “discovered” Tarantino and other festival-cultivated filmmakers. Also, they proved great at playing the awards game, promoting their films heavily for Golden Globes and Academy Awards, etc.

So whether by talent or luck or some combination, Harvey Weinstein rode a rapidly growing wave of “independent” films in the decade 1989-1999 to rapidly become a huge major player. But in 1988 the idea of Harvey Weinstein being mentioned as a major Hollywood player would have seemed utterly ridiculous. At that point he was totally, utterly obscure and insignificant. He did rise very very fast.

Could well be, apparently the memo that the NY Times got ahold of detailing inside knowledge of some of the sexual harassment was a very tightly held document — either an insider “leaked” it or the author herself (an ex-employee) would have been the source, if she still had a copy.

So Bob Weinstein could well have been the source.... but that does seem kind of crazy even if he had come to hate and/or loathe his brother, because this firestorm may turn out bigger than Bob could predict. Was Bob really willing to burn down everything they “built” as Weinstein Bros. or does Bob think he will somehow survive the mess and move on successfully without Harvey?

When my colleague Andrew (who was also then my boyfriend)

Sounds like a lot of fooling around going on. Andrew himself might get hit with a suit.

So uh, where was “Ah Ahm a Nasty Woman” Judd during all this?

Coulda spoke Truth to Power a long time ago.

Oh...right. First she had to cash in.

Couldn’t let a little thing like integrity get in the way.

Incredibly well protected! They “all” knew — or at least, huge numbers of MSM and Hollywood reporters, editors, producers and directors, actors and actresses, etc. KNEW. Not to mention people in the liberal political world.....

Yes, Ashley cashed in for 20 yrs, and now that her looks and career are fast fading she suddenly decides to take him down. I’m glad she finally spoke out, but certainly she milked her career as long as she could before she decided it was time to go on the record.
