The yogurt manufacturer Dannon has severed ties with Cam Newton, less than a day after he directed a sexist quip at Charlotte Observer reporter Jourdan Rodrigue.
“It’s funny to hear a female talk about routes. It’s funny,” Newton said after Rodrigue asked a question about Panthers receiver Devin Funchess’s physical approach on Sunday in New England.
“We are shocked and disheartened at the behavior and comments of Cam Newton towards Jourdan Rodrigue, which we perceive as sexist and disparaging to all women,” Dannon said in a statement. “It is entirely inconsistent with our commitment to fostering equality and inclusion in every workplace. It's simply not ok to belittle anyone based on gender. We have shared our concerns with Cam and will no longer work with him.”

Dannon is crazy.. I have watched football since the age of four and I still ask my husband about a couple of positions that are sometimes behind the scenes.
Most of the football moms I know can’t pick out their kids position on the field until they see their number.
I guess it’s fair to say feminist dogma trumps white privilege . . . :)

This is not going to help women, not really.
This may make employers less likely to hire women for such sport related roles, because of all the liability connected with her public image. I thought we had passed that time when women had to be patronized and catered to in every public way.
I suspect that Dannon already recognized that Newton was a liability and they were looking for a reason to dump him.

Those who use social media and/or who are in the public eye need to remind themselves that it is a good idea to think before speaking/twittering/blogging/posting, etc. All thoughts do not need to be expressed.
Blacks are about 13% of the U.S. population. Women are more than 50%. Any company that markets consumer products to the population at large is going to sit down and do some simple arithmetic here.
Hate America and support black racist nationalism? Get applauded.
Make fun of women in sports? Get raked over the coals.
The only way Cam could’ve escaped punishment from feminists/libs for this transgression is if he were a Moslem.
I am a dinosaur, so this may sound sexist, and maybe it is. But it is my opinion that most of the female sideline reporters suck. They ask dumb questions and don’t really seem to understand football.
I am not saying all as my wife knows football as well as just about anyone. But I do think there are nuances of the game that someone that never played can’t understand. That is not the case with most other sports such as tennis, golf, skating, gymnastics, soccer, volleyball,....... Football, boxing, rugby, and a few others have been, and for the most part, remain male dominated sports.
Again, just my opinion. I don’t care if the networks have them, I just don’t think they are as good.
The gentlemen I knew at the U of Chicago computer center who were black, in the late 60’s, could switch at will between a ghetto dialect and what I call normal speech. They used one on the job and the other at home.
