An unarmed security guard at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino found gunman Stephen Paddock and drew the shooter's attention while radioing police for help.
The security guard was identified as Jesus Campos by the International Union, Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America. He was injured after Paddock fired at him through a door, striking Campos in the leg, police said.
*snip*
Speaking this evening, Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo praised Campos, saying he aided officers in their search for Paddock.

Maybe Mandalay bay should arm their security.

Well, I first checked for “Campos” as a keyword, and didn’t find it. It would seem to me that Campos being the hero and all, that would be a keyword.
Imagine that security guard returning fire into that room. May have saved many lives.

"Despite Nevadas open carry law, the shooting took place at the Mandalay Bay hotel, which has a strict no-weapons policy"
I would have gone with “Vegas”. No big deal.
Should have searched for “Jesus”
“Should have searched for Jesus”
I didn’t know he was missing
Oooooof!
Lol!
While Paddock was shooting a bizillion rounds ? Hey, Im going on random patrol
Lombardo added that Paddock fired "well over 200 rounds" into the hallway when the security guard approached.
I thought they said he had cameras set up so he could see who was coming. So he sees this guy, dumps 200 rounds at him and hits him in the leg? Once? Twice? Why didnt he chase him down and shoot him ?
Story sounds a bit off. Could have happened that way. Just doesnt sound right.
If the security guard was armed the murderer might have gone to Hell sooner and the guard could have saved the lives of many people. But the stupid libs never think of that.
These stupid liberal dimwits want a nation of unarmed sheep they can impose their full will upon. History is unkind to those nations that have disarmed their citizens.
So.. he was actually a security monitor...
Lessee, they are on opposite sides of the door, Paddock has cameras and can see anyone approaching, the guard has a handgun, and Paddock zips off 200 rounds from (I guess) a modified AK, just for starters.
Odds of success (in disabling Paddock)? 1 in 100?
What will be interesting is whether the timeline says Paddock resumed shooting at the crowd. Just simply making him think police had arrived may have been enough for him to off himself. May.
In any case, Campos is one brave, and very lucky dude.
I just watched a news briefing by the LV sheriff. Shooting seemed to stop when Campos showed up. Personally I nominate him for a civilian purple heart and possibly a medal of honor. He saved a LOT of lives. Heck, lets give him something real.
Please please please be from PR. We need a hero to take down that nasty harpy. Would be a fitting gift.
ps. he was unarmed. damned place is a gun free zone. this is why the MOH. brave beyond words.
If PR was only a little messed up, I’d be willing to give Campos the whole island!
As it is, he’d be smart to not take it. :-(
