Vegas shooter had 200+ reports of suspicious activities, large financial transactions in casinos

As authorities pick apart the life of Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock, they have come across one major thread of suspicious behavior: how he handled his money.

In the last three years alone, more than 200 reports about Paddock’s activities, particularly large transactions at casinos, have been filed with law enforcement authorities, ABC News was told.

While some of the reports centered around "suspicious activity," most were "currency transaction reports," which casinos are required to file with the Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network when a person withdraws or deposits more than $10,000 in cash.

But obviously the security guard knew the exact room number, he was shot through the door.

Who shot the security guard under your theory? The ‘real killers’? How did they get past the wounded security guard without him seeing them? Or being seen by police covering the stairwells as they ran downstairs?

You do it through layering. Google it.

I don’t think so apparently there would be more to it than pulling a lever. It most likely is playing real hands against the computer.

...there still isn’t a comprehensive explanation of what he was doing with all of those guns in that particular location...

Easiest explanation - "salesman samples". All high-end. Blinged out. And he had more at his home office.

But why would he choose a location with the perfect location to actually take aim at the concert? That was not a coincidence, and neither was the second room he rented adjacent to the suite.

Maybe some small timers from Reno, where he had a house, making a statement. Or drug runners from outside Vegas. We’re not hearing much about who the sponsors of the concert were, which has been very interesting to say the least.

Don’t go to any large outdoor event that is not known to employ its own snipers.

You don’t find it the least bit odd that a man lived in both Mesquite NV and Mesquite TX?

What are you trying to say?

Adelson has nothing to do with the hotel where the shooting took place.
_

Adelson is a big power in Vegas, or so I have read. What happens in one casino will happen in all.

I’m wondering if what looks like an initial blow to Vegas and other huge public venues will turn out to be a windfall for anyone involved in selling security machines to those venues, as well as get the public to give up a little more liberty for the illusion of security.

Remember Chertoff after 9/11. X-ray scanners, TSA and the entire nightmare of airport security as we know it, with some very big winners: those with ownership in the companies that make/sell/rent the machines.

I don’t think we always know which billionaire has what involvements in which specific properties or other businesses.

I support Trump. But, if this can be used against him, it will be. His empire is his Achilles heel. It ain’t beanbag with Eagle Scouts.

Google: “Layering” means separating the illegally obtained funds from its source through a series of financial transactions that makes it difficult to trace the origin.

Layering or structuring are just general terms to describe a phase in the money laundering process.

You can’t take suitcases with millions of dollars of cash to a real estate broker to purchase a real estate property without generating cash transaction reports.

Even if you tell the real estate agent “Oh it’s okay, I’m layering!”

Who shot the security guard under your theory?

The jihadi shooter. Paddock was dead before the shooting started. Again, the escape is the weakest part of my theory but there seems to enough of a window in the 72-minute timeline (in the news) for the real shooter(s) to escape in the fog and chaos within the first 15 minutes. And the guard was shot "down the hallway" not at the door. Police/SWAT arrived much later.

"No one makes a living gambling. If someone consistently wins the casinos take note real quick and stop letting them in."

Quite a few people make their living playing poker in casinos. As Sam said, in the poker room you're playing against other players not against the house.

Paddock, from what I've read wasn't playing live poker against other players though. He didn't have the brains for that.

No, you convert the dirty cash in intermediate steps. That is the layering
part. The end goal is the real estate.

Why do you suppose so many Russian oligarchs have heavily invested in the NYC and London real estate markets? In fact, a huge spike in real estate prices in a particular area can be indicative of a large volume of money laundering.

But still, I had read that at the time the security guard was shot the elevators had already been turned off and police covering the stairwells. To escape, the real killers would have had to get away either before the elevators were turned off or before the stairwells were covered by police.

I'll go back and see if I can find a link for where I read that.

ISIS on the loose ? I have been avoiding those event types since 911. Only indoor with armed security.

My understanding is the security guard(s) retreated from the 32nd floor to a floor or 2 below to wait for backup. So in this theory any accomplice would have probably been trapped in the 32+ floors, and have to pose as a normal hotel guest later.

Yes, but they already have funds in electronic forms. Russian oligarchs use bankers and lawyers to buy US properties through bank transfers.

They wouldn’t use some lowlife like Paddock. If he was involved, it was likely at the seedy end, actually handling cash.

I just saw a really good movie “Hell or High Water”. The characters played by Chris Pine and Ben Foster rob branches of one particular bank and then go to a casino to exchange the stolen money for casino chips. They have a few drinks in the casino and then cash in their chips for cash.

Laundered money with little risk.

Anyone know what “security” is doing, starting at around the .08 mark. It only lasts for seconds, bottom left corner of screen.

I agree with this theory , likely he was an arms dealer and his terrorist customer(s) carried out the shooting . Maybe not a deal gone bad, but planned to go down this way, Paddock brings the weapons and carries the risk as a mule to the suite. The terrorists show up use the weapons to do thier evil deeds, shoot him and fled the scene once the swat team showed up on the camera.. would explain the surveillance set up at the hall way to the room
