I'm not surprised by the lack of any background or apparent training for this guy. Everything about him seems to point the possibility that his "career" involved drug dealing and/or arms trafficking and/or money laundering for Latin American cartels.
One big red flag for me was that he apparently had an accounting background and worked as an auditor for Lockheed Martin years ago, but supposedly made a lot of money as a "high-stakes gambler" in Las Vegas over the years. That's a red flag for me because I've been told by people in the casino business that accountants and engineers are the worst customers they have ... they hardly ever gamble at all, since they're analytical people who know the odds are stacked against them.
