Is it a passing storm or an existential problem? Thats a key question for the NFL as it grapples with the mushrooming controversy of players kneeling in protest during the national anthem, and President Donald Trumps persistent bashing of the kneelers.
A new Yahoo Finance poll suggests the NFL has an enduring problem on its hands. Nearly 62% of 9,056 respondents told us they plan to watch less pro football in response to the anthem controversy. Thirty-six percent said they plan to buy less NFL merchandise, and 32% have chosen not to attend a game they would otherwise have gone to. Those findings all have financial implications for the NFL and its 32 team owners. We wanted to limit our survey, conducted online via SurveyMonkey from Sept. 28-29, to people who patronize the NFL, and exclude people who have an opinion but dont watch football. So we only counted answers from people who describe themselves as pro football fans. Eighty-eight percent of respondents said they watch at least one game per week, with 46% of those saying they watch more than two games.

When Jones first bought the cowboys he said he wanted the cheerleaders to show more skin.
Woah!
The boycott is gathering steam....
Count me as one of them. I don’t like to see politics mix with sports.
Think Trump is winning at half-time....
Less?
How about none!
62 percent so far... is pretty good!
I hope it gets up to at leat 92 percent, soon....
go go NFL!
National Fuc*edUp League
Watch less?
I’m not watching ANY!
‘eff the NFL!
45 year watcher here. First poster was the 72’ Dolphins.
Great Team.
Politicize MY entertainment and watch me go away.
I really don’t care what happens to the NFL.
They may have to go back to showing the cheerleaders a lot more.

About the only thing worth watching.
White guys have been getting poked in the chest constantly for years, being called racists, sexists, haters, homophobes, stupid, mysoginists, Islamophobes, gun huggers, environment destroyers...
So richbNFL thugs and their employers give all these working white guys an easy target to hit back at, to vent all these years of being insulted and demonized.
Pretty stupid.
What about the beer?
I don’t “plan” to; I already am.
I was joking around. Not sure what “footbal” (in headline) is but I watch a fair share of “football”.
Fox says they won’t broadcast the anthem at football games.
Two comments on this latest BS with the league.
One, we need to be heading to our congress critters, with pitchforks in hand, demanding that the federal government stop any and all subsidies to any professional sports team.
Two, I think that Donald is still a bit more than pissed that when he twisted the arms of the other owners of the USFL to switch to the fall to compete with the NFL, with the mindset that "certainly the NFL will let a few of our teams in" (meaning the the NJ Generals would be a shoe in) - ala the AFL/NFL merger in the 70's. That league folded in part because to that move and the NFL shut out any of the USFL teams from being merged into the NFL.
just saying
Another victory for Trump !
There are 20,000 movies on Redbox, nearly endless seasons on Hulu plus Amazon Prime.
Good riddance. Why give money to spoiled anti-American Felons and thugs? So much better ways to waste time.
"Look at us! Look at us, we're doing what we're supposed to do!" Nice try, but not even close. You disrespected our nation and our flag and you thought we were so addicted to football that we wouldn't care. You were wrong and once your wallet started to hurt a little you come crawling back, like a wife beating husband.
You took the side of an Anti-American, Anti-Police, Racist Terror Group. It was either corporate cowardice or you really did feel that way. Either way you will not profit one thin dime from me.
I’d like to see a collage of NFL player’s homes published, so we could see for ourselves how mistreated they are
Given that polls are fake news, I wonder what the real numbers are.
