Not trying to downplay what is a bad situation in Puerto Rico, but I have been in disaster situations myself. All the photos and videos going out accentuated the negative to sensationalize the coverage. Even a block from some of those photos or videos, and everything was more or less normal.

People back East essentially were led to believe massive damage had taken place. Some big damage was certainly present, but nothing like folks were led to believe.

When I hear that 80-90% of the island homes have been destroyed, it causes me to question the reports when only 13-14 people were killed.

Some reports are telling us all the major roads are now unblocked. None the less we’re hearing the supplies cannot get through.

What IS going on down there?

What I hear is that the truck drivers union went on strike and refuses to transport the supplies.

The problem is not the major roads, it is the very secondary roads into the interior and the south east part of the island which took the Cat. 4 hit from Maria. Also I hope you look at the coast line of PR at the link I sent previously. It is going to be hard to get supplies to the SE by road and the ports look very puny. Hope the death toll does not rise much but am not too optimistic.
