As a candidate and since taking office, President Trump vowed to protect and defend Christians in the Middle East. In between talk of a Muslim ban and building a wall along the Mexico border, Trump assured besieged Christian minorities that his commitment was ironclad.
Now, many Iraqi Christians living in the United States feel the president lied to them.
We voted for Trump. All the Christian people, the Chaldean people, voted for him, that was the first thing he said, that he was going to help them, said Sumar Khalasawi, a Chaldean Christian living in Macomb County, Mich. But he did the opposite.
Chaldeans are Iraqi Christians, some 200,000 of whom live in Michigan, including tens of thousands in Macomb County. Chaldeans voted in overwhelming numbers for Trump in November, helping him to win Michigan by just over 10,000 votes. And on June 11, immigration agents detained more than 100 of them.

“We voted for Trump.”
As in ‘voted illegally?’
That is the odd dissonance in that story. If you voted legally you are not up for deportation. If you voted as an illegal if all you get is deportation you are being shown leniency.
Breaking the law is breaking the law no matter which religion is yours.
I’m sure most of the illegal immigrants from Central and South America claim to be Christian, too. In reality, Trump’s platform hurts Christians more than any other religious group, so long as these groups continue to enter unlawfully.
You must be registered. And you must show your drivers license.
This state does not mess around when it comes to any kind of registraion.
This story smells fishy.
Every single one of the “Christian Chaldeans” that are facing deportation have committed felonies while here lawfully. Those felonies voided their residence visas and thus make them eligible for deportation as an undesirable alien. Buh-Bye!

Yeah - that’s got me wondering whether this is real news again... makes little sense.
It does. I suspect the vast majority came here through legal means and are safe from deportation.
But that won't stop the MSM from framing this around immigration, as they've been doing.
What is so wrong with being a law abiding citizen?
What do other Countries do to illegals? Buy them a Golf Membership at the local Country Club?
Why can’t the people understand that the Law is for everyone’s benefit? If it were different? Everybody would be breaking the Law.
THE USA is done with Law Breakers (Illegals) entering our Country to rob the Working People of the US. It costs the Middle Class Billions and Billions of Dollars ......EVERY YEAR! Nobody rides for FREE! NO-BODY! NO NO no no no ...body!
DEPORT ALL ILLEGALS...... NOW!
So did they vote legally or not?
If they voted legally, they should have been legal citizens.
We don’t deport legal citizens.
They aren’t in the country legally then
They shouldn’t have been voting
If it’s a Real ID state you need a birth certificate that is authenticated. If your name has changed you need an authenticated proof of name change
Must be a big surprise that we observe the law, if it goes in our favor or not.
“They” Iraqi Christians in the U.S., in general ARE NOT the victims of Trump administration ICE deportation orders. Those Iraqi Christians residing in the U.S. who have committed crimes that nullify their visa status are the ones being deported. Just because they are an Iraqi Christian does not make them immune to the laws.
If the Iraqi Christian community is taking this as an attack on THEM as a whole, or in general, they are wrong and they do the nation a disservice to take that position.
No the US citizen families voted for Trump. Not the immigrants. Those here on immigrant status might have helped him gain support.
I have been in contact with some of the Christians in Iraq.
The Christians in Iraq have a legit reason to fear for their lives. Almost all of them had to flee their home as ISIS took over. It was an assured death sentence to stay there.
I do not support illegal immigration, but Obama did. Unfortunately Obama let very very few Christians in the US from Iraq and Syria.
People should remember his executive order on refugees was invalidated by the courts on the ground it preferred Christians.
if they are refugees, how did they vote?
if they are refugees and their country is liberated, why don’t they want to go home?
