When I saw the messages the owners were sending out over the weekend, my first thought was, “They are going to be teaching classes on this dumpster fire in Marketing & Public Relations courses for the next 20 years.” Talk about a tone-deaf response from their PR people. Their 6-digit salaried PR people, I might add.

Hey Dingbat! There was an election in Alabama yesterday with national implications - OBVIOUSLY people were fixated on that election, and were unable to watch the NFL.
(LOL...just wait, that will be the excuse)
The owners will need to hang Goodell in effigy on the fifty yard line at halftime of every game—after they fire him—if they have any hope of digging out of the mess.
Hope the players are enjoying their fat contracts—won’t be long now before those glory days are over.
And who does Goodell report to? The owners. They let him create this mess.
The solution: hire another PR person!

I wouldn’t trust Goodell to take my garbage to the curb without insulting the neighbor.
I think there will be a real big drop in the next 3 weeks as non football fans stop tuning in to see the protest.
I did. Most of the others will too. The NFL has managed to take the fun out of it. It's not really even a boycott now. I just don't care anymore.

The NFL's problem is once these fans leave, they are not coming back. NFL fan pipeline is not growing either - the youth game is declining. Europe does not want the crappy product either. They have soccer and rugby.
It's pathetic some people are making excuses to continue supporting NFL.
Players earn a pension after five years in the league, and that expensive perk is sure to be reduced, pushed out or eliminated.

The first thing I’d do is sit down with Roger Goodell and say, “Look, do you want to save the NFL or be politically correct? It’s that simple. You can’t do both. You have to make a choice.”

Players have 401Ks and annuities for pensions. Not sure those can be taken away once earned. ‘Three years’ is minimum NFL experience for pension.
Retired players do get a lot of medical benefits, but taxpayers would almost certainly pick up the tab if the NFL couldn’t afford it.
I just started contacting the advertisers today—figured there might be a let up from the “first wave” so time to keep up the pressure.
My message—I will stop using your product until you remove your sponsorship of the NFL. My demands of the NFL—fire Goodell and get the political protests out of football.
saw on face book that everybody is organizing for Veterans day weekend..its on a Saturday...that Sunday..massive boycotts of stadium attendance...televised games...sponsors..mass burnings of tickets etc...we gotta spread this around. Punish them once and for all.

Football pensions are about 1/3 of what baseball pays for equivalent years of service.
1. Severance Pay Plan: A player with two credited NFL seasons (on the active roster, injured reserved or physically unable to perform list for three games in each of two seasons), receives $10,000 for every year played between 1993 and 1999 and $12,500 for every year from 2000 on.
2. Player Annuity Program: A player with four credited NFL seasons receives an annuity valued at $65,000 at age 35 or five years after his last credited season, whichever is later.
3. Second-Career Savings Plan or 401(K): A player with two credited seasons will receive a $2 match for every $1 contributed to the plan up to a maximum club contribution of $20,000 per year.
4. Bert Bell/Pete Rozelle Retirement Plan (pension): A player with at least three credited seasons earns a benefit credit for every season he plays. The benefit credits add up to monthly pension checks that player receive starting at age 55.
It’s 100 percent at my house.
