Players earn a pension after five years in the league, and that expensive perk is sure to be reduced, pushed out or eliminated.

Players have 401Ks and annuities for pensions. Not sure those can be taken away once earned. ‘Three years’ is minimum NFL experience for pension.

Retired players do get a lot of medical benefits, but taxpayers would almost certainly pick up the tab if the NFL couldn’t afford it.
