Skip Bayless Criticizes Steelers’ Villanueva For Being Only Steeler to Honor Anthem
Mediaite ^ | 25 Sep 2017 | Joe DePaolo

During the playing of the National Anthem prior to the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Chicago Bears game on Sunday, left tackle Alejandro Villanueva was the only Steeler to come out and stand.

According to Pennlive.com, Villanueva’s action caught teammates by surprise — as it had been voted on a day earlier, and decided by a slim majority that the team would remain in the locker room.

“I was looking for 100 percent participation,” Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said during his post-game news conference. “We were going to be respectful of our football team.”

On that basis, Fox Sports 1’s Skip Bayless agreed that Villanueva — a former Army Ranger with a distinguished service record in Afghanistan — should not have come out for the Anthem.

“It didn’t work for him to step out of the tunnel,” Bayless said during Monday’s edition of Undisputed. “If, in fact, you had all agreed, you had voted whether a majority or unanimously, to do this as a team to stay up in the tunnel until the Anthem was done. And Mike Tomlin was clear.”

Bayless’s colleague, Shannon Sharpe, agreed.

Teams, they always take the military mentality, because it’s all for one, one for all. Whatever we decide to do that’s what we’re going to do. He went on his own. I get it. He was in the military. I commend him for his service.

I’m sure all these fascist Democrats would respectfully join us in “solidarity” if we took a knee during the national anthem to honor the millions of aborted black babies.

Steelers took the butt to the national anthem, sitting on theirs.

And Mike Tomlin made a very poor choice.

The only one that is to be respected is Villaneuva. I hope he gets speaking engagements across the country.

trouble with the jersey buying is that Kapershnick's jerseys also sold highly...

and buying anything nfl is just lining the nfl's pockets....

stop buying their gear...do not buy for your children or grandchildren....

if you must, make up your own gear with similar stuff on it...

but stop buying their gear...

Kaepernick like Obama has one white parent so I guess it doesn’t matter much.

Kaepernick was adopted. He has 3 white parents.

I love that picture! You can see the emotion on his face. He truly loves his country, his flag and everything it represents. Beautiful.

If he gets the chance to read this, thank you so much, Mr. Villanueva.

If you can’t beat them, join them. We need to start taking a knee. Pick a cause: Americans killed by illegals in sanctuary cities, aborted babies, etc. The only thing that will stop this nonsense is putting the shoe on the other foot, IMO.

Three white parents wondering “did we mess up or what?”

Or maybe they’re liberals.

The whole industry is so full of it. They are circling the wagons thinking it’s saving their meal tickets. It’s a bubble soon to be popped. The overly hubris NFL players may in the end have to take off season jobs like old NFL players had to do. The pay cut could be that bad.

Skip Bayless' face looks kind of dirty.

I think former US Army Ranger Captain Alejandro Villaneuva should wash Bayless' face off with the nearest concrete block wall...

He was standing on the sideline with three other coaches while the national anthem was being played.

Obviously the coaches union/contract not quite as strong as the players....

One thing for the players to act on their own BUT to have management side with and encourage the players makes management just as ‘guilty’ and hopefully they will pay the ultimate prize.

I already DON’T watch NFL and use very few of the sponsors....USAA is one I use, Papa Johns ticked me off about something else, ONLY liquid I intake is unsweet Iced Tea very little water (BUT we all know what fish do in water) Dukes MAYO beats the crap out of Hellmans .. also do not knowingly buy any Heinz products (JF’nK) and AARP on **it list (Hillary&ObamaScare)
If I ‘need’ fast food, Chik-Wendys OK basically no to rest of them MCD definitely NO, NO to Subway, FireHouse much better etc etc etc

Tom Brady said that what President Trump said was “divisive”.

What Tom and his ilk fail to see is that the Kaepernick kneel is what is “divisive”. It is not divisive to stand at attention for the national anthem. It is courtesy and respect for all who have fought to defend that flag. Yes, mostly white folks for sure, but many black folks as well. Thousands and thousands of those folks paid the ultimate price with their lives. Is that “divisive”, Tom?

Forget the country Tom. Look to your own NFL rule book. You taunt another player or show too much celebration , or don’t stand for the anthem you are supposed to be penalized. Which is more “divisive” Tom, “taunting” another player or not taunting? Do you condone ridiculing your teammate for a botched play? No, that is “divisive”. Yet you can not allow your fellow teammates and fans to honor their country by standing for the national anthem. Instead you encourage a minority of your teammates to “taunt” them and their beliefs.

Spoiled rotten hypocrites, all.
