As part of a wave of protests throughout the NFL in the wake of President Donald Trump's NFL-related comments, the Steelers will not be on the field for the playing of the national anthem before their game against the Bears on Sunday.
Coach Mike Tomlin told CBS his team would remain in the locker room for the playing of the Star-Spangled Banner.

I would like the see the reception the Steelers get when they come charging onto the filed after the Anthem is played.

Respectfully, kabar - then he should walk out onto the field like a MAN, and stand up for his Country - the SAME Country that gave him the VERY OPPORTUNITY to get paid for playing a damned game - AND gave every one of those malcontent Bozos who want to kneel an opportunity to be something more than they’d EVER be in the real world that the rest of us inhabit.
If those attention whore douchebags want to make a statement, let THEM stay in the clubhouse and kneel until the National Anthem is over.

My father was an incredible sports fan. My sister and I went to Bulls games, Blackhawks games, Cubs and Sox games, and of course, Bears games. No matter the weather. :)
He was also quite patriotic and would be disgusted by this. I am not sure he would be renewing his season tickets this year. Wish I could ask him.
But based on your post, it sounds like many Americans are fed up with politics being injected into what is supposed to be fun entertainment.
It's especially galling because these people make millions from hard-working, patriotic Americans, and then they choose to basically spit on the flag. And I don't think it is just Republicans or conservatives who are upset about it. We don't see eye to eye, but Democrats and liberals love their country too.
Even worse than taking a knee. Just stay off the field for the whole game.

Any legal from any country has more respect for the USA than way to many HS kids and college kids as they earned citizen ship it wasn’t given to them.
Next step.... coming out onto the sideline without your team to stand in honor of the flag and National Anthem will be considered a “protest”. Imagine looking forward to seeing one “brave” soul daring to honor the flag...

All it would take is for one Steeler to value their country above their team and leave the tunnel for the field and the national anthem. That would have a profound effect on the rest of his teammates.

Prior to 2008 the teams were never on the field for the Anthem, always in the locker room. Not sure what changed in 2008. Teams have not always been on the field for the Anthem.
always thought salaries were waaaaayyyyyyyyyyy too high and that the peak should have been decades ago.
At least 1/2 the fans should vacate the stadium when the national anthem is over and the Steelers enter the field.
