A K-9 unit intercepted $237,576 in cash during a traffic stop on U.S. 59 on Thursday, the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office reports.

A mother from Mission, Texas, and four children were in the SUV at the time of the stop. All five people were released at the scene, but an investigation is pending. The mother could be charged with money laundering, the sheriff's office said in a statement.

The vehicle, heading south through Rosenberg, was stopped for a traffic violation by a member of the Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force's interdiction team.

The money was discovered during a roadside investigation, the sheriff's office said.

I assume you’re joking.

You would think with that much cash she could afford a suitcase or two.

She was not stopped by a traffic cop. She was stopped by the Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force’s interdiction team. They always use the ruse about a traffic violation. Not long ago and 18 wheeler carrying a large CAT excavator in Fort Bend county was also pulled over for traffic violations and upon inspection, they cut open the boom with a torch to find over a hundred pounds of cocaine. Knew first hand of two drivers making a run into NYC with a pot shipment in crates on a flatbed, contact didn’t show so they went back to NJ. They were also pulled over for a traffic violation . Again the dogs were brought out. Only through court records did we find out they were being tailed the whole trip.

No she won't. The cartel bosses will bail her out of jail and then make her watch as they dismember her children in front of her before putting her out of her misery.

Couriers might have put 4 kids in her car to make her look innocent and when the cops started asking questions she didn't even know their names making her look suspicious and getting a drug dug summoned to have a sniff.

“The vehicle, heading south through Rosenberg, was stopped for a traffic violation by a member of the Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force’s interdiction team.” That vehicle was under surveillance and the “traffic violation” was a pretext for stopping the vehicle.”

This miracle happens often out here in Californicator land.

A nondescript vehicle, often one of thousands in heavy rush hour traffic is randomingly stopped by police officers.

Shazzam! The officers find tons of cash, drugs, both and/or a large amount of firearms. Often for some reason, these traffic stopping cops just happen to have a drug sniffing police dog with them.

Then, another miracle happens, shortly after the driver is arrested or just before, at least 3 cop cars show up. One pulls in front of the vehicle, one along side the vehicle on the road. The third pulls up behind the pulled over vehicle.

That miracle is surpassed later, when several other police vehicles pull up to, around and ahead of the stopped vehicle. Police with cameras are taking pictures of plastic bags of white or green stuff inside the plastic bags or money as shown in this picture.

The stopped vehicles often seem to be the smaller suvs or even kid hauling vans.

You got it exactly right, she was caught before she ever left for the trip.

Could have been a thinly disguised bribe. I wonder how many of these cash seizures, where they let everyone go, are in fact bribes from the cartels.

Traffic cop pulls her over and gets suspicious and asks her if he can have a dog come out and look at the car. Knowing she's not carrying any drugs, she consents and says "Si." and then the dog 'alerts' on the money.

They bring the dog whether you consent or not, and he will alert whether there's something there or not.

“It is money laundering to carry the cash? Or are they assuming because there is so much?”

It’s money laundering if the pigs say it is, at least until you can prove it was from legitimate sources...and the legal cost to recover the money would probably just about match the $237k taken here.

Nice racket they got going.

Whoo Hoo for Rosenberg; that’ll buy a couple or more squad cars and lunch and lap dances at the local topless bar!

“Do you have anger management issues?”
________________________________________

I don’t know what you mean by that.

Those pictures the cops take with money spread out after drug busts have bugged me for a long time....

It’s sending a message to the next generation of mis-guided punks that’s there lots of money involved with the sale of drugs, and only encourages them to give criminal activity a try.

How is THAT a “anger management” issue?

And what about the innocent people who are merely carrying large amounts of money for perfectly legitimate reasons, only to have it confiscated by the insane asset forfeiture laws?

” The mother could be charged with money laundering, the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “

That’s outrageous! A mother of four takes in laundry to makes ends meet; and this is the treatment she gets from authorities. Time to flood the street with protestors!
