I can't blame Roger Goodell for issuing this statement.

His professional sports league just got a humiliating public rebuke from the President of the United States last night. He has to say something in response, even if he knows damn well that President Trump was right.

He had to say something, but he should not have poked the lion. He should have simply affirmed the “values” of the league and nation blah blah blah.... now he has given President Trump reason to take him on more directly and it will not end well for Goodell and the NFL.

A solid majority of NFL fans voted for and very much like President Trump. Going to war with Trump is not a smart play on the part of the NFL. I guarantee you that there are at least some team owners who do not like this. It is bad business.
