Statement From NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell 2017 REGULAR ENGLISH

The following statement is in response to President Donald Trump’s comments last night...

STATEMENT FROM NFL COMMISSIONER ROGER GOODELL

The NFL and our players are at our best when we help create a sense of unity in our country and our culture. There is no better example than the amazing response from our clubs and players to the terrible natural disasters we've experienced over the last month. Divisive comments like these demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL, our great game and all of our players, and a failure to understand the overwhelming force for good our clubs and players represent in our communities.

Goodell justifies in his own mind what is simply an excuse for wrongdoing:

Divisive comments like these demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL

Divisive actions like going to their knees demonstrates an unfortunate unpatriotic lack of respect for the USA.

Do you have empathy for anybody?

Watch God withdraw His grace from you and see what happens.

whenever new tv contract comes up..2022 I believe. they will not be getting the billions they got last time.. LA Rams actually have a good idea. They play in soccer stadium, in 10 or 15 years that is where most NFL team will be playing.

I miss Pete Rozelle. He would not have tolerated virtue-signalling attention whore athletes to disrespect the country and embarrass the league. And neither would most of the original NFL owners. Not even Al Davis!

True enough, symbolic speech needs to be examined all around.

Is there any merit to it? Or not?

If there is merit, what is the merit?

“Faithful are the blows dealt by a friend.”

The NFL is not paid for “all the good they do”.

That’s the off-field stuff that receives little attention, save for the recent JT Watts efforts.

They are paid to play football, which doesn’t qualify as an objective “good act”.

So kneeling during the anthem and the raised “black power” fist are signs of unity according to Goodell. Well Goodell, will you let the KKK perform at the Super Bowl Halftime?

It is obvious where the power lies in this country. The NFL is about to get a wake up call hugely!!

Goodell said he respects the players’ right to make social or political statements during the anthem. And Trumps right to make social or political statements? Can't have it both ways Goddell. Hope the owners fire his ass.

I didn't see the tweet but saw and listened to POTUS when he said of the disrespectful players..."I'd fire those sons of bitches!"

I thought about my sainted father, a lovely gentleman who was a businessman....he would have said the exact same thing.

I would add that the NFL owners & coaches should demand all their players respect this country, their country and that means respecting the colors and our national anthem. Think of all the men and women who fought for these spoiled athletes and came home minus limbs or eyes or badly burned...all for their country.

YES "Fire those sons of bitches!!

Goodell is afraid of the players. They have him cowed.

He’s taken their side and there is no going back. He’s going to Philadelphia with 4 of the radicals to “investigate police problems”.

The only answer is to turn that TV to other channels when NFL games are on.

I am sick of the thugs. I won’t ever go back to watching like I once did. It’s just not very entertaining anymore. I don’t want to financially support them in any way.

Look at it this way... Those of us who figured that the NFL office was formulating some kind of a plan to eliminate or control the pre-game theatrics now knows that it ain’t gonna happen as long as Goodell is there. Roger Goodell has made his bed, so if the owners collectively decide to do something — Roger-the-Hugger is GONE!

What does he think the NFL is? The US Marines?

The NFL is an entertainment business. The country needs law and order provided by the good cops that go to work every day to keep the peace and to protect businesses and citizens from criminals. We don’t need overpaid entertainers to promote resistance to law and order.

I am a 18 year Tennessee Titans PSL Holder (4 of PSL’s). I am officially done with the NFL after reading his response.

We have to put together a list of NFL advertisers and blast out our messages to them that we are through with the NFL and that if they are not through with the NFL, that we are through with them and their products.

Well except that in reality, rather than in theory, that’s what they get their bucks for.

They are celebrities not just actors. They openly wooed this. Now that some of the members have taken it on themselves to carry out controversial acts, the whole idolatry system is close to coming into question.

Look when you sign up with a professional team it is your duty to honor your national flag and national anthem when it is displayed and played prior to game commencement..period.

Now if you have problems with your country as an individual, you have every right to show and state your personal feeling. In other words when you are a team member, you join the team in honoring the flag and nation.

When you attend a game that your kids are playing in and, you want to disown your country and flag...that is fine...you are speaking as you, not the team. End of story!!!

I might remind the African-Americans that history shows that African-Americans, slaves or freemen have fought and died for the American nation in every single war this nation has ever fought. They are a 100% part of the historical and present/future culture of these United States of America.

I might also remind them that they supported a POTUS (Obama) that did very little in eight years of office to better the conditions in which many Africans-Americans have to survive in every day they breath air. So much for America’s first Black President, the son of Kenyan Muslim Slave & Sex Traffic Traders in Eastern, Sub Sahara Africa...that still exist, today, and ply their evil, “SLAVE” trades every day that comes and goes.

As for Roger Goddell and his ilk...they have embarked on the same path as the current Democrat Party....destroying themselves internally. The NFL is dying...shucks...I wonder why?

Actually IMO the quality of the games themselves are on par with what it was like decades ago. It is the politics that ruins it.

Au contraire... the country needs the love of God. Without that, the best police possible could only throw the whole place in jail and then what would we have.

Sports remains one of the last feeble exercises we have for fighting for what’s meaningful.

Some of the most effective people are sports minded.
