Nope, it’s common sense. Strange gave him a “yes” vote on Obamacare Repeal. It was his only major vote. How can you not reward the guy, especially when it will make no difference and when you know Moore will support you anyway?

It’s a win/win for Trump. He appears loyal and gets his vote from Moore.

He is backing Strange because Strange voted for Trump backed legislation every time. Trump said so himself on twitter today. He is basically telling US Senators, “You go with me and Ill back you to the hilt, even when my base is against you.”
On the other hand, with US Senators like Jeff Flack who are hard core anti-Trump he will do everything to get them primaried and out of power. Its the typical carrot and stick

I wouldn’t hold this against Trump at all. An incumbent will always have an advantage of getting an opportunity to vote. He has apparently supported President Trump’s agenda to a T, so he’s already demonstrated loyalty.

It's quite simple. The President is doing this because Senator Strange supported him 100% on every Senate vote. It's called loyalty—something President Trump values very highly.
