“Again, this doesn’t make Trump’s tweets [about phones being wiretapped] correct or justifiable. But it does once again raise the question whether Trump’s conversations were tapped.”

I think I am going to need some help with this contradiction. Phones lines were not tapped but his conversations were? Distinction without a difference.

The distinction is whether Trump's phone lines were tapped or his conversations were recorded because someone else's lines were tapped.

It's an important legal distinction, but it means nothing in the world of politics. It was great for President Trump to get that legendary Twitter post out there when he did. LOL.

If you are doing business with someone under criminal investigation you may well find yourself under scrutiny as well. If you are talking on the phone to someone who’s phone is bugged your conversations may well end up being recorded.
Neither of these indicate guilt on your part but they certainly give the investigating agency a reason to snoop and ask questions.
