We will hit with the same EMP they threaten us with. The difference is, ours will be so much more effective. The motors that run their military transportation will be toast. Their electronic eyes and communications will be cooked. They will be lucky to set off a firecracker. The Pig will be hitting the red button over and over and nothing will happen. He will be sitting there down in his secret pit and we will hit him with a deep thrust of the MOAB knife into his heart.
I am sure we will use high power microwaves (HPMs)against the Norks. Much of the United States’ EMP research has involved HPMs. Such weapons are like super powerful microwave ovens. Their specialty is they can generate a super concentrated beam of microwave energy. HPMs can be mounted to a cruise missile, disrupting ground targets from above. They are precise and affect exactly where we want them to.
Another kind of device that generates an EMP is the flux compression generator (FCGs). This type of bomb, like the HPMs, requires high technology to make them work. Basically the FCG has a armature surrounded by a stator winding. The armature cylinder is filled with a high explosive. The bomb also has a power source, such as a bank of capacitors, which are discharged through the stator. When the capacitors discharge a tremendous charge through the stator, a huge magnetic field is created. At that point an explosion is set off, causing the stator to short circuit. This compresses the magnetic field, generating an intense electromagnetic burst.
This type of weapon affects a relatively small area and is nothing like the widespread damage of a nuclear EMP device. Its advantage is it can concentrate its effect on a select area, much like the HPM.
The first strike should be an EMP to take out the electronics to run the military’s “eyes.” That way a response into South Korea would have to be done blind. Not easy. North Korea’s arsenal to retaliate by hitting South Korea is their new ICBM missiles, 240mm rocket launchers and long range artillery. Forget about a missile response. Their guidance systems would be fried by EMP.
If their artillery is guided by electronic fire control, all their artillary would be toast too. Their artillery is on mobile platforms which can be rendered useless by EMP if their motors use electronic engine control units (ECU). They would be toast. And their artillary with sufficient range to hit Seoul are ONLY the M-1978s (modified to the M-1980). These have a slow firing rate at one round every five minutes. I am sure it takes electronic recalibration to recover the M-1980 from the previous shot. They would be rendered totally useless. Just in case North Korea had some quick fix to restore the electronics, just move the population beyond range while S. Korean and American forces are busy taking out everything above ground and under.
While Kim Jung-un goes down into his spider hole in some deep bunker, S. Korea would launch their F-15K Slam Eagle fighters carrying GBU-28 bunker-busting bombs with a payload of 5,000 lbs with pinpoint accuracy. He would be toast. I am sure House Chief of Staff, General John F. Kelly, has inspired President Trump’s fire and fury!

If rocket man is in his secret pit that had an elevator or electronically controlled doors, will it still work having been underground?
I have recently read two novels regarding an EMP situation in the US. In one version 3 high altitude EMP devices take out all the electronics in the US. The only machines that work are old pre-electronic automobiles and coal operated trains. People begin to starve and fight for food resources, many die, etc. etc. In the second novel an extraterrestrial source takes out the electronics and other technical devices; people are left resorting to horseback and crossbows, etc.
These leaves me to wonder what is in those satellites the Norks put up. If kinetic action is needed, we should take out those satellites immediately, or who knows.
