President Donald Trump spoke his version of truth-to-power -- or powers, all 193 member nations of the United Nations.
His first address to the General Assembly was vintage Trump a 40-minute mixture of bombast, insults, threats, praise for the ideals of the UN, and a declaration of his belief that Americas pursuit of its own interests was in Americas best interests and the worlds. The speech, which Mr. Trump read from a teleprompter, was also long on contradictions and short on proposals for solving the threats he denounced.
Making headlines was Mr. Trumps most explicit warning to date to North Korea about its continuing efforts to develop nuclear weapons that could reach the U.S. The president warned that America would totally destroy North Korea if forced to defend itself or its allies. Though that declaration elicited gasps from the diplomats and criticism from the media, it was a more explicit version of his earlier threat that Pyongyang would be met with fire and fury if it continued threatening America and its allies with its nuclear and missile tests. In vintage Trumpian form, he mocked North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as a rocket man on a suicide mission. Demanding the denuclearization of the peninsula, Mr. Trump did not call for a resumption of negotiations to achieve that goal.
He also took aim at the rogue states and movements that threaten American security and world peace -- radical Islamic terrorism, a term he has only intermittently deployed. And he criticized what he called the rogue regimes of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, and Cuba, calling upon his fellow leaders to join the United States in the fight to defeat their threats to peace.

Miller ... trying to restore her reputation.
I think Trump appealed more to the concepts the U.N. wants folks to believe in, that the U.N. itself.
It hasn’t lived up to it’s mandate, and it never will.
It doesn’t believe in Capitalist Free Enterprise, and so it’s pipe dreams will never pan out.
Do the Leftists ever think of what China has accomplished ovr the last 25 years, with our help?
Evidently not. They simply cannot grasp economics, and what those sound economics drive, in the right hands.
Sourpuss Judith Miller is still trying to piss up a rope without a penis.
How can there be two sides?
Slightly off topic but did anybody notice that when Trump met briefly with the Emir of Qatar, that the Emir was wearing a ‘trump tie’ ?? (super long, wide)
Now we must wait for Kim Jong Un’s reaction to Trump’s warning of NoKo’s complete destruction. KJU will try not to lose face in front of his generals.
It was a good speech in that regard alone — a reminder of its charter.
I hope the allied leaders that chose to be absent have a good reason — but I suspect they were just being the petulant, socialistic a-holes we all know they are.
Judith is one of the worst analysts ever
Judith Miller basically looks down her elitist nose and despises Trump.
Yup
President Trump may have information about the plans of North Korean generals that Rocket Man does not.
Judith Miller can go to hell!
Not a fan. I consider her a traitor,
I agree with your premise.
