Everyone has different tastes. I went through a period where I wanted my steaks well-done. Now I can eat and enjoy them any way as long as they aren't really rare.

As a kid, I used to eat steak with ketchup. How is it that much different than putting steak sauce on it? It is just a condiment that some like, others don't. I have a friend who would occasionally put sour cream on his steak. I tried it once and it was pretty good.

Bernaise sauce is my favorite additive to steak for an alternate to a good steak sauce.

Agreed. I started with ketchup, moved along with A-1 and now have it with just a little salt, pepper and butter. Rare. Most people having changing tastes as they age. Babies and children tend to like bland food. The more we try different foods, the more we expand our palates.

“I have a friend who would occasionally put sour cream on his steak. I tried it once and it was pretty good.”

Nairobi used to have a restaurant called, “The Steak House”. (seriously!)

They served the absolute finest Bearnaise sauce on the planet! Ostensibly meant for the veggies (green beans, IIRC), this sauce was so good that many put it on the veggies, the fries and, yes, even the steaks!

Man, what a taste delight!
