CNN reported Monday evening that the U.S. government, under President Barack Obama, had wiretapped Donald Trump’s former campaign manager, Paul Manafort — both during after the 2016 presidential campaign.
The report vindicates earlier reporting by conservative talk radio host Mark Levin, and by Breitbart News, which the entire mainstream media attempted to dismiss at the time as a “conspiracy theory” to mock Trump and to protect Obama.
The media pounced after President Trump tweeted on March 4: “Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my “wires tapped” in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!”
Leading the “conspiracy theory” charge was none other than CNN itself. Brian Stelter, host of Reliable Sources, wrote at the time that the wiretapping story was an “incendiary idea” floated by Levin, Breitbart News, and others before reaching Trump’s attention.
CNN’s Jeff Zeleny specifically reported that the Breitbart News story about the wiretapping had been widely read in the West Wing of the White House. “Was Breitbart the main source for Trump’s tweet?” Stelter wondered.
He had little interest in the underlying story, which had stitched together facts from mainstream media reports in the New York Times, the Washington Post, and other sources. Instead, Stelter and others at CNN poured scorn on the idea.

And so it has. Literally the entire mainstream media were wrong, and Mark Levin and Breitbart News — and Trump himself — were right.
And we were right because the facts were sitting in front of our noses, in bold print at the top of the front page of the New York Times.
But for the mainstream media, it was more important to protect Obama, to demonize Trump, and to smear conservative media outlets.
Call it a fake news conspiracy to cover up the truth.

Leftist spin here and there last night and this morning is the resurrection of the same laughable nit-picking / wordsmithing / sophistry / strawmanning we saw after Trump’s tweet: eavesdropping these days is not via “tapping” “wires” with physical devices on individual lines therefore “wires tapped” is false; “my wires” means Trump’s personal office line not Trump Tower (where Manafort had a residence) therefore false, and Obama himself did not install the wiretaps therefore false. Busted, busted, busted.
Next step? What next step? It's not like we're a nation of laws or anything like that.
BACKSTORY Through the last half of 2016, the Ob ama administration was desperately searching for evidence of some link between the Trump presidential campaign and Russia.

Not surprisingly, ever since the Trump Inauguration, the Democratic Party, especially its NY/DC press wing, has relentlessly pushed the Trump/Russia story. But that hasn’t stopped Democrat factotums in the press from talking about little else for the last three months.
This is the kicker----- all along, the Democrats have known that their spying produced nothing.
This whole Obama/Rice/Comey/Mueller/Democrat spy apparat is almost unbelievably sordid. The relevant Congressional committees should investigate thoroughly, and criminal prosecutions should follow where laws have been broken.

Obama and his henchmen are so slimy. They were desperate to have Trump lose, b/c they had deposited mountains of political filth dirt in their travels that needed to be buried by the crooked Clintons.
Scary to think what they would do for power. Lucky for us, they nominated crooked Hillary to run against Trump.
President Trump was wrong on one detail. The corrupt Obama regime and their thugs in the Deep State had Trump's campaign wiretapped well before (and long after) the victory. The evil and the lust for power of the Ctrl-Left disgust me.
There is no expectation of truth from this network.
It is more likely they may one day slip up and report truthfully, and get sued. No one would be expecting that.
The fake “Russia, Russia, Russia” meme was a preemptive ploy to provide a weak rationale for the REAL crime, which was the political surveillance of Trump and many, many others, including all of the GOP candidates, members of congress, and members of the media. Any second now the MSM will start crying that the coming Trump administration indictments of Obama administration officials is retribution for the fake “Russia, Russia, Russia” attack on Trump.
MSM had a dog in this hunt by the Obama Police State apparat.... b/c if Trump won, the MSM would have to endure the slings and arrows of some mighty p*****-off people.
