No other civilized county’s police would have have shot this guy at that point. They simply would have moved away from him and resumed efforts to non-leathaly neutralize him. Police in the US used to be more like that too.

If police are going to continue to kill people in these kinds of circumstances, riots and retaliatory killings of police will become routine.

You’re right, of course. But is seems that FReepers are now in favor of assisted suicide.

The police are more violently inclined like the ones programmed to kill LaVoy Finicum on January 26, 2016 in Oregon.

And the woman in Minneapolis who was gunned down by the police officer who reached across his partner to the opposite window to open fire.

Excuse me, but I call BS. Our cops have always shot people who came at them with knives and much quicker. This de-escalation BS that has been pushed is now starting to get officers hurt more often and it won’t be long when the definitive documentation comes out.

My fathers generation of cops did not have OC, Tasers, or body armor. The did have batons that they used liberally when it was needed.

His generation did not cry about knife wielding idiots getting shot.

I don’t look for other nations that import muslims to their own demise as a benchmark on proper police procedure.

True. Some police officers need to have better training and they should not shoot first, ask questions later.

Police officers need to have better training.

They did move away from him and they told him to drop the knife numerous times. But he continued to move toward the cop and got pretty close.

Huh? You mean like the British soldiers or police officers who get murdered by knife-wielding terrorists?

Sometimes I think even FreeRepublic has lost its collective mind.

I can remember when every college campus in the U.S. didn't have LGBTQWLLJIDELAUTBSILADREGLSADIEAYUTPFIEHG "pride" organizations led by freaks like this misfit, either.

“Police in the US used to be more like that too.”

They certainly were not-——but there was no 24 hour news cycle or internet.

Where on earth did you get the idea that police were kinder and gentler?

They weren’t dealing with the insanity that we have today either.
