George P. Bush, General Land Office commissioner, is continuing the work along with city of San Antonio leaders to reimagine the Alamo. It seems they want to diminish the courage and sacrifice of Texans (which included Hispanics) to fight against the government of Santa Anna in Mexico. Maybe they want to be inclusive. In the mean time they are re-writing history and what matters.

P grew up in Florida. His grandparents came from Connecticut and Mexico. What the hell does P know about the Alamo??? They want to water down the patriots’ sacrifice who died there rather than submit to Mexican rule. Very un-PC. That’s why they want to change the historical significance of the battle of the Alamo.

Trick Question. What flag flew over the Alamo at the time of the battle?

George P. Bush, of the Make America Mexico Again Bush family, continues the cultural cleansing of America that recently began with the Nikki Haley victory over South Carolina’s battle flag display.

America will be perfected when old stock Americans are re-educated about their sinful past. And when the land is cleansed by replacing the American people with immigrants and refugees from the 3rd world, as has been done in California.

Enjoy. All hail the brave new world.

Why not just call it Alamo World and have rides and balloons and cotton candy? You know, like a circus or a cheesy carnival?

I will admit that as it stands today, it’s a complete dud. But I hardly think it respects the tragic/heroic history of the place to turn it into a gaudy tourist haven.

For many who don’t know the original layout of the Alamo fort, it covered about 2 1/2 acres, maybe more.

Upon the defeat of Santa Anna and his withdrawal back across the Rio Grande, he had the original fortress blown up to deny the Texas a military base there. Only the Chapel remained. Streets and buildings now occupy much of the fortress area there now.

Jim Bowie was originally supposed to blow up the fortress and deny Santa Anna a base, but some say he was supposed to fortify the place, which led to the battle there.

“Consequent to the plan’s passage, Texas General Land Office Commissioner George P. Bush, whose office is now in charge of running the Alamo, brought in a number of out-of-state planners to design the project...

...Instead the Alamo would be transformed into a multi-cultural hodgepodge of world history. In fact, its very name would be changed. The site would no longer be referred to as the Alamo—instead, it would be known as the San Antonio de Valero mission.”

You wouldn’t expect anything less treasonous from a Bush. When are Texans going to wake the hell up and stop voting for this disgusting family of scumbags?

How can it be in danger? I thought the Mexicans won that battle.

Of course, it probably resulted in them losing the war.....

Saw it when I was in Basic Training and was surprised at how small it was.

Of course, Sam Houston’s troops went into battle at San Jacinto crying out, “Remember the San Antonio de Valero Mission!”

The addition of umbrella tables and other tacky tourist items is a desecration. This is a shrine and likely a grave site for the brave men who gave their lives for Texas independence. I have visited the Alamo and experienced the reverence that this site commands

P-brain has finally found his office? Amazing. He couldn’t’ seem to find it the first year in office because he was tagging around behind daddy on his campaign trail. P-brain should have turned his unearned paycheck over to the Alamo fund.

P-brain is rewriting history because of his mama. And his daddy’s guac.

This is insane. The Alamo is world famous because of the siege in 1836. That's why millions of people come to San Antonio to see it.

Fine. It had a history before and after that. So did dozens of other Spanish missions in Texas, California, and elsewhere. How many people go to see the other Spanish missions in San Antonio? (A small fraction of those who go to the Alamo.)

If they want a historically authentic Alamo, build a replica somewhere else--they could even have a nice museum with it as a centerpiece. But not on the site of the original building.

I have been to the Alamo 3 times (first time as a kid, the most recent time maybe 5 years ago). I was pleasantly surprised that political correctness had not run as much amok there as I had expected. The museum at the site is very interesting.

Man, that’s a one family demolition crew for the name “bush”.

You leave the grounds as they are as a sacred trust.

Then you allow architects or artists to create models, videos, or whatever they want, so the public can see what the site and buildings (inside and out) were back then.

Nothing physical should be changed with regard to structures and grounds.

Remember the Alamao! Don’t change it. Respect the Alamo and Its place in the history of Texas and America.

As the litter slogan says, “Don’t Mess With Texas.”

Why was there a San Antonio anyway? History people don’t know.
Before there was a Santa Fe Trail, the citizens of Santa Fe got a surprise visit from French traders who came over the wild country of Texas from New Orleans.
Fearing a possible French invasion, the Spanish then established a series of forts across Texas, just in case. San Antonio was one of these.
Frank J Dobie mentioned several others in his writings, some completely torn down by treasure hunters.

What about the “Canal View at the Alamo” condos that will pay for the whole project? :)
