An engineering student from Gwinnett County was fatally shot by a police officer on Georgia Techs campus Saturday night.
The GBI is investigating the incident in which the student, who has been identified by Georgia Tech spokesman Lance Wallace as 21-year-old Scout Schultz of Lilburn, was allegedly barefoot and carrying a knife.
The students legal name was Scott Shultz, GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles said.
At least two students shared cellphone video showing the tense interaction between Schultz and Georgia Tech police officers, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Schultz yells at police to shoot and officers respond, Drop the knife! Drop the knife!" more than a dozen times.
Schultz was president of Pride Alliance at Georgia Tech.
The Georgia Tech Progressive Student Alliance said at 4 p.m. they would place flowers and memorabilia on 8th street in front of West Village.

heh heh heh heh... that would be perfect
I agree. If he was contained and had only a knife simply hose him down until the threat is neutralized. Seems like killing the guy/girl/mix was a bit extreme.
I agree.
However, as we see even on this thread, there are some that think it should have been handled better.
This is all the commies need.
And, BLM has no problem fighting for trans rights.
Lots of problems on the Tech campus recently. 4 students have been robbed in the past 2 weeks and now this shooting.

“””Was he not carrying a weapon, in addition to not following loudly repeated orders by the cops?”””
Who was in direct threat of being hurt by the guy? Anyone?
We are distraught over the loss of Scout Schultz. They were an incredible, inspirational member of our community and a constant fighter for human rights. Please join us in celebrating and honoring their life and the contributions they made to campus and the greater Atlanta community. Starting at 4pm today we will begin to place flowers and memorabilia on 8th street in front of West Village. Monday evening, there will be a vigil at 8 pm at the Georgia Tech Campanile.
We love Scout deeply, and we hope you will join us, along with Pride Alliance at Georgia Tech, to share memories of their beautiful life.
**Please remember: Scout uses They/Them pronouns.
Tasers are appropriate only when the perp is not armed with a lethal weapon. It was a righteous shoot.
A net? Lol
Tell you what. Let’s get on a open football field. Give me a knife and you get a net. I’m coming to kill you with my knife.
Within 2 minutes you’ll realize why I’ll be laughing about this all day.
A net....
Poor kid. Blame the overindulgent liberal parent.
I read you loud and clear.
Now change this a little though to where I’m standing in one place begging you to shoot me.
Oh wait. You’d shoot me wouldn’t you?
That’s what I thought you were referring to.
You ever fight a suicidal guy with a knife? Don’t even start to talk about what you think is extreme unless you are also crazy and suicidal or if you have successfully disarmed a suicidal psycho with a knife and gotten him into cuffs. At night.
Get a friend and give him a banana. Go in the yard. Try to arrest him (into cuffs) without getting touched by the banana. The punishment for getting touched is that you die. Maybe then you’ll have an idea
No, friend, armed with a knife and less than 21 feet, and advancing- pretty equal odds of both cop and perp being wounded/killed.
Tueller drill....pretty well defined lethal force equation.
So you were there and you know what happened? Nah. You weren’t.
But Yes. You come - at me - with a knife after I have told you dozens of times to stop and I’m going to kill you. And yes, that makes me very sad and I don’t think it’s funny.
