The comment was somewhat flippant, but if Ivanka encourages the president to do stupid stuff that turns off his supporters that could be the result.
Most of the stupid refugees-welcome, spare-the-DACA-kids type of stuff seems to come from her (amongst others such as her husband, Cohn, etc.).
