LOOK: Stadium is half-empty for Colts-Rams regular season opener in Los Angeles
CBS Sports ^ | Sept 13, 2017 | John Breech

If NFL fans in Los Angeles are excited about the Rams this year, they have a funny way of showing it. The L.A. Coliseum looked nearly empty for the team's home opener against the Colts on Sunday, and let's just say that everyone watching at home seemed to notice.

When the game kicked off, former Colts punter Pat McAfee was one of the first people to point out how empty the stadium looked.

Not even the lure of a $6 ticket was enough to get Rams fans to the game. That's right, all you needed was six dollars to attend Sunday's game, and even that wasn't enough to get fans through the doors...

Maybe they can get Trump to stop by to sing the national anthem.

LA lost two football teams for a very good reason. Now the NFL sees what a mistake it was to go back there.

The arrogant jerks protesting don’t give a rat’s butt about how this affects the people who work st the stadium. The guy selling hot dogs and beer is going to be hurt by the low attendance, but the rich players couldn’t care less how their antics harm others.

There needs to be a law to force people to buy tickets and attend!

I was at The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for the first Super Bowl. There were quite a few empty seats back then. Maybe a lot of people thought the idea would not take hold.

“NFL is committing suicide with it’s insulting anti- American antics.”

MLB has learned its lesson the hard way also. After the 1994 strike, many fans gave up and even now (23 years later) haven’t returned. Now the players and ownership love the fans, give away baseballs like crazy and do lots of things to make nice with the fans. BUT, fans have long memories and expectations that it might all go back to the way it was before, so F*** MLB!

Well, it is the LA colessium that holds about 90,000 fans. That could have something to do with it.

I went to a Rams game there last year. The stands were pretty much filled up in November. I was impressed with the turnout. That’s a lot of butts in seats.

“The Chargers are playing in a soccer stadium that only seats 27,000 and they can’t fill that.”

Heck, I’d far rather WATCH soccer than the NFL. The players aren’t spoiled by their modest salaries, the stadiums are smaller and closer to the action, and the games are more exciting. Plus, if you are on a schedule, you can count on them being over in 2 hours at the most.

The Saints has a waiting list as well and they always pack them in, even during the pre-season games.

BTW the Saints have the smallest franchise but they still pack them in.

I’m thrilled that the brilliant “lets let left-wing millionaires see that they actually run the NFL” strategy is working out so well for the suits who run things back in NYC.

You guys really know your audience, obviously.

I can’t stay interested in soccer. It’s like ice hockey without ice.

... only mildly interested in case some team that does not tolerate that crap starts doing well.

I doubt very much that you'll be seeing any member of the New England Patriots taking any knees during our anthem. If they try it then they can kiss their sweet ass goodbye.

That’s way less than half. I never knew how many racist there were in LA. /sarc]

The place would be sold out every week if some Mexican soccer teams played there.

In the LA Times today they blamed opening day crowds and Tv ratings on the hurricanes. It must have been too breezy in LA
