Retired baseball player Johnny Damon helped the Yankees and Red Sox win world championships, and he was always a positive and quotable athlete. Today on Fox & Friends he advised ESPN to stick to sports -- a phrase the network loves to hate.
Fox & Friends hosts asked Damon about ESPN co-anchor Jemele Hill's Monday attack on President Trump and his supporters. She angrily called them "racists" and "white supremacists" on her Twitter account. Damon responded:
I want to watch sports for sports. ... If ESPN turns into a political arena, I know a lot of people just won't watch.

We watch sports to get away from this political crap! I mute all the sports I watch, basketball, baseball, football. And turn on a nice Pandora station for soft music while I keep my Kindle handy for the commercial breaks. A nice way to enjoy an afternoon. For me, these commentators dont exist, they have no voice.
I like your style! I do the same thing, have muted the obnoxious commercials for decades. A cousin once told me I was stealing from the networks by not listening to the commercials, lol!

Seems like I heard this morning (Fox Business) that ESPN is maintaining the viability of Michael Eisner to run for President. I think his ship has sailed - since he is currently 70.

He really thinks the people who watch sports as an escape from politics will stop if it’s just more politics. Where did he get that idea?
