Superman radio serials used to be against hate. Now they are hate-mongers.

Truth is, they are illegal aliens.
Justice would be for them to be deported.
The American Way is to respect our laws.

Does anyone else (age 60+) remember the public-service item?
"What does Superman have to do every January?"
"Register his address at his post office because he is a resident alien!"

Total side note, but I honestly thought they discontinued or renumbered Action Comics back to #1 because they thought it would spur sales as "collectors like having complete sets" or some nonsense.
Means we're a year or so away from 1000 issues of Superman, which is kinda cool, even if the writing is so much crap, it'd fill his red underpants ... if he still wore them.

I thought Superman was supposed to stand up for “truth, justice and the American way”.
So a white guy, wearing an American flag bandana and upholding the law doesn’t fit those criteria?
Of course, he is white, a man, and wearing the American flag, so he is obviously a supremacist Nazi. /s

I googled demagoguery and this is what google gave me:
Demagoguery is an appeal to people that plays on their emotions and prejudices rather than on their rational side. ... For example, a politician who stirs up a fear of immigrants to distract from other issues is using demagoguery.

In the recent issue of Action Comics #987, "The Oz Effect," released Wednesday, Superman arrives in the nick of time to protect a group of undocumented immigrants from a white man sporting an American flag bandanna, wielding a machine gun, who is going to shoot them for taking his job. Superman blocks the bullets before they hit the terrified people.
"Stop this!" Superman orders the gunman.
"Why?!" he responds. "They ruined me! Stole from me!"
Grabbing the gunman by the collar and pulling him in close, Superman says, "The only person responsible for the blackness smothering your soul is you!"
Reminds me of that SNL skit where they postulate what would have happened if Superman had landed in Nazi Germany instead of the USA.

Context is everything.
This issue is the beginning of a storyline that's been building for 2 years. The people committing atrocities are being manipulated by an alien influence. It causes them to succumb to their most base instincts.
The alien is trying to convince Superman that humans aren't worthy of his presence; that their cruelty and greed make it impossible for them to evolve into a superior civilization.
Superman has to stop man-made catastrophes all around the world. And sometimes, he fails.
