Although NK deserves absolutely zero/nada/0 respect, he’s right about oligarchy. The model for all nations today is oligarchy, US included, regardless of being branded a Republic, democracy or socialist or communist or dictatorship.
He sure is. Read the following passage from "The Russian Revolution" by Alan Moorehead 1958 and see if it sounds familiar:
...but the fact remained that this was a predatory state which the Czar and a small group of noblemen and bureaucrats ruled for their own exclusive benefit. ... The ruling group owned all the wealth, enjoyed all the privileges and monopolized all the political power, and it did not intend to give up any of its prerogatives. It considered the peasants (some 95 percent of the population) to be little better than animals...
But not for the reasons he cites. Political traditions have been added that were never envisioned by any founders. For instance the idea of Congressional “discipline” and regarding Congressmen as “senior” or “junior” is purely something that has been grown in the system. All Congressmen should be regarded as equals.
In Britain/Canada the role of Prime Minister also grew over time to garner more and more power.
